I used to be really phobic about the dentist - to the point that I had to go to a special clinic at the dental hospital for a while. I am much better with it now and am now treated at a normal NHS dentist. Some things that helped me were
    • agreeing with the dentist beforehand that if I raise my hand she stops immediately
    • that I don't want to see any of the equipment so she sits so that she blocks the equipment tray.
    • She asks if I am ready before starting so I get a wee bit of warning and also whether any treatment will involve water or air being sprayed etc
    • having music on and really concentrating on the music helps too.
At the clinic I was also taught to think of somewhere relaxing and positive - for me it is a garden from my childhood and I imagine walking through the garden looking at the flowers and plants closely and feeling the sun shining on me etc. I guess its a variation on visualisation/meditation/relaxation but it works for me.

Unfortunately I now can't think of that garden without thinking of the dentist  ... oh well :rotfl:

thank you taka, I went to a special clinic once too and it was great, they knocked me out and did whatever they had to do and I was none the wiser, although I felt like I was extremely drunk for the ret of the day :D Apparently I shouted at an old lady when we came out because she was holding an umbrella and I wanted one :o:o:o and I also walked into lots of trees :o but other than that it was great :D:D

I can force myself to go now but I still dread it. I have so much that needs doing to my teeth though, its the thought of all the work I have to face thats putting me off ... still, I'm incredibly lucky that I don't have to pay for it so I really ought to get it all up to date again

So far today we have been to the library and I had to pay a fine of £2.25 cos my books were late  and ds chose "the owl who was afraid of the dark", well I helped him choose it as it was one of my favourite stories when I was little :D We've also paid in a cheque at the bank which someone sent me for a skirt from ebay.

I've had a look though my accounts and paid some bills ... I seem to have £60 left in my account to last me until payday (next friday) which is great as I thought I was already overdrawn ;) However, I do still have some other bills to pay which isn't a problem as I have the money it just means juggling it round to pay them. I phoned the insurance company re. the buildings insurance invoice but the guy I need to speak to isnt in today so I have to call again on monday  I cant get hold of my landlord to ask him about it.

I am going to do as someone suggested and pay off my next account with my savings and then save it up and pay it back into my savings account. The amount I owe is £180 and I have made £50 on ebay this week so that will get chucked at it, and I have more stuff to put on there tomorrow so hopefully I can get it under £100 quickly.

  • Keeping on top of things as usual BB good for you.

Paying the next card off should save you quite a bit of interest, better in your pocket than theirs of course.

I agree about the dentist I needed a lot of treatment and was terrified but I have been going every week to get it done and the fear is really going. Face your fear and the death of fear is certain and all that.

well I've thrown some clothes on and ds is dressed, had a cup of tea and I feel yuck!! :rotfl: I now remember why I don't like drinking :D
My plan for the day is to get 10 things on ebay and to gut all my paperwork  I might need to get some food shopping done too so I've got stuff in for packed lunches for this week.
Looks like I might be having another night in tonight  I think my friend who had the accident won't feel up to going out tonight and I've probably scared off the guy I was chatting to last night so no chance of a night out there :rotfl:
