I was hit from behind almost three years ago and wasn't injured. However I was subsequently bombarded by phone calls both on my mobile phone and home phone from claims companies telling me I was entitled to injury compensation. Despite me telling them I wasn't injured they told me I was still entitled claim just by signing a form. I refused. Now, the guy I hit from behind I repeatedly asked him whether he had any discomfort or anything. He repeatedly said he was ok. In my original post I said "probably spurious." There is a distinct possibility he was then bombarded with call from claim companies and he accepted their offer.

Well that proves it then - seeing as he told you he was OK.

I walked away from a crash many years ago telling everybody I was fine, even refused the offer of an ambulance. The pain only kicked in an hour or so later and a subsequent visit to A&E revealed a fractured collarbone. Adrenaline can hide a lot of things whilst it's pumping through your body.
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

It's amazing how when a MSE contributor hits and innocent third party, the subsequent third party claim is always classes as spurious.

The other half was hit on the side of her car by a car driving through a give way without stopping, he started complaining at the time of pains (he didn't admit liability for about 18 months) - fire brigade offered to cut off his car roof to get him out safely, the pains soon disappeared!

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

It's a joke that you can can be at fault for an accident that has cost your insurer £6k+ and can still have such cheap insurance.

Get real, that is the way it was. 40 years with an unblemished driving record may have had something to do with it. What's up with some people?

Please read what I wrote before commenting. I said "probably spurious" and made no reference whatsoever to third party claims as "always" being spurious.

In 2011 I rear ended someone, big repair bill to both cars and an injury claim. My renewal the next year was £5 more. This year my renewal is + 80p on last year.

I'm sorry to hear you came out of the incident for the worse. Did you do well out of a compensation claim? You haven't mentioned whether you did or didn't and if you did, how much is paid out for a fractured collar bone?
