Credit CardI always use a credit card which gives cash back, in my case 1%, but pay it off in full every month.0

gift card - 5% off supermarket shopping through vectis ftw!0

I know I should pay by cash back credit card, but I prefer to pay by debit card as I use internet banking and can keep a close eye on my balance and move anything extra to savings regularly. Also, although my credit card has been set up to pay full balance monthly by direct debit, I have a horror of credit of any kind. My last monthly car payment was made in 2008, last mortgage payment in 2012 - same car and same house now and no plans to change.“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

CashCash - it's rare that I use a card for shopping. I find it easier to keep track when I pay cash. I'm also less tempted to overspend.0

I've heard a lot of people say that, and fair enough if it works for you.
But I tried it a few times and it had the reverse effect on me! If I had cash in my wallet, it felt like I could spend it without reducing my bank balance. So I ended up spending more in cash than with a card. Maybe I'm just weird! :-/0 -
Credit CardWhy use cash or a debit card when you can use a credit card that gives rewards - it's money for nothing.
After all, you're going to buy the groceries anyway...
I rarely use cash if a card can be used.:hello:0 -
CashCash. I have a strict budget, can't go over it or I can't afford to buy anything/pay for my bills. I only take out cash I have, that way I am less likely to end up without enough to pay for food/etc.
Doesn't always work when things like your electricity bill doubling one month after a "new and impressive" (not my words) heating system is (against my choice) placed in my home. But it means I am doing everything I feel able to do to stick to my budget and not end up in so much debt again and helps me realise what I do/don't have per day and when I can/can't afford to eat things.0 -
