Hi Guys

got up this morning and scraped the snow off me windows, used the wipers and both worked fine, got almost near work and a chunk of snow slid down front window, used my wiper and it stopped, thankfully the snow crumbled up and went off window, not sure if the fuse has gone, both front and back wipers are not working, i have a 03 red ford ka, my fuse box is under the wheel, opened up and tried to pull the fuse out after taking keys out and it wouldnt come out, does this sound like a fuse? also where would be best to go to get this done as not very good with cars, there is a kwick fit about 15 mins away or there is a halford which is about 25 mins away, need to get done as cant really drive with no wipers.

thanks

You do realise you're meant to clear the snow off the roof of the car as well as the windows?

Don't go to Kwik Fit or Halfords if you can help it, they'll have your pants down. Have you got a friendly local garage you can pop to after work or over the weekend, they're more likely to fix it for you and shouldn't charge the earth!

do they make any noise at all when you try to operate them, if so, tighten the bolt holding the wipers on. If no, get some pliers on the fuse

Lesson learned OP. Clean the snow off your roof as well. It's not only dangerous, and in this case costly, for you but is a danger to other drivers following you.

I don't know whether anyone has actually been prosecuted, but you might want to consider the risk before deciding to drive without clearing the roof.

    That's four years old.

Dangerous driving carries a years disqualification so can be dealt with by a ticket. Whether it's dangerous condition is however open to debate.

Just get anyone with a little car sense to pull the fuse and check it for you.

Yes I know. And many laws are hundreds of years old, but you can still be prosecuted for breaking them.

The Licensing Act of 1872 explains that operating a cow or steam engine while intoxicated carries a prison sentence

I wonder if that still applies? Operating a cow, what if your married to said cow?
