OMG - £350 a week? where do they shop? Harrods? That's more than my monthly shop (and we usually pick up a 'toy' in Aldis for that). just goes to show that eating 'junk' is far more expensive than eating healthily (though I don't see much healthy eating tips on this show).0

Just loved how they were wrong. about the marinated chicken:rotfl: Brand snobbery at its best "You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

I felt sorry for the kids wanting their mum to cut up more carrots cos they tasted better than the weird dried up baton's they usually had...OH was getting shouty at the TV over the slightly manky looking pizza...not a great diet for that amount of money per week!Every Penny's a prisoner :T0

Oh no for me it's the bit at the end where Greg & Chris? Do the whole 'oh I'm so relieved we managed to save these people so much money' it's hardly DIY SOS sob fest is it." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

In both episodes so far, i've been amazed at the total lack of imagination,n basic cooking skills:eek: Do none of them even want to learn the basics?"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Me too.
I have a 'little shop' in my garage with shelves with half-price or BOGOF items such as tinned tomatoes, baked beans (and other types of beans), tuna, coffee, jars of mustard, bottles of ketchup/sauce, wash powder/fabric conditioner, washing up liquid, toilet rolls etc.
I meticulously rotate when I replenish my stock so there's nothing out of date.
I'm lucky in that I have the space and disposable income to be able to keep that stock but I can't see that it's wrong.
It just means that I pay half price for a lot of things that many people would have to pay full price for (if they bought when they needed it instead of when it's on offer).
My shopping list often looks like this:
chopped toms IOO
plum toms IOO
Tuna IOO
My OH said 'Why do we need 100 tins of tuna, FHS?'
But it means 'if on offer' - my stock is getting low and I'll take advantage if it's half price/bogof but won't if it's full price.
Haha, that's exactly what I do ( the if on offer thing on my list).Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Loadsamoney - no sense, sums up the people in this show.
They don't have to worry about saving because they are minted, and I think that this is a total waste of licence payers money, as well as a big advert for
TESCOS
If they really want to show these people how to save money, then forget about the silly cupboards and plain labels, just take them to markets and farm shops, Lidl and Aldi and they will save loads.0 -
I honestly don't think these greedy stupid people will change - oh they say they will for the camera but I bet they don't.
Fancy being tempted by an expensive looking packet or the fact that it has pretty colours on it. It is expensive therefore it is good - weird.
What is wrong with making your own pasta sauce? My mum used to get me to buy pasta sauce and even bought some for me - I used it but told her not to buy more because I prefer to make my own. Pizzas are easy to make too - even easier if you use a French stick.
I bet the husband would have eaten the museli if it had been in a posh box instead of being in a plain bag.
The woman should learn to cook and pronto instead of faffing about whining about cutting up carrots or having to use chicken thighs instead of breast for cooking.
As for cheap yoghurts, I buy mine from Aldi which are made by Yeo Valley - cheap but still nice.0 -
One thing that did confuse me was that the first shop seemed to be in Tescos. However the own brand products at the end of the show seemed to come from Waitrose.
Are they saying you need to buy from Waitrose own range to match the taste of branded products?
Or were they saying the could shop in Waitrose and still save a lot of money?0 -
Again a nice family, surprised they shop so silly.
And ever so comfortable in front of the camera, maybe all actors.0
