Hey, I'm considering visiting uganda by myself, but I'm unsure what it's like for solo travellers. I hear it's quite a safe country in general, so that's good to hear. I just wanted to hear some opinions on uganda, if anyone's been and their experiences of the country. I would most probably travel to Rwanda for a few days to explore there also.

If anyone has been to these countries, it would be great to hear your thoughts and a guesstimate of spending money needed for 2 weeks, including about 3 days in Rwanda.

Btw, this would also be my first time travelling alone, but Africa is full of countries I would love to visit, especially S.A and uganda.

Before travelling anywhere these days it's worth a peek at the FCO Travel Advice for whatever country you intend visiting...

Why not? Stunning landscapes, spectacular wildlife, interesting culture and history, English speaking, it's cheap, it's not over-run with tourists.

How on Earth is asking about a trip to Uganda "attention seeking"? It's not difficult to do, nor is it pricey.

Nor is it REMOTELY like visiting Syria or Iraq. Unless there's something I'm missing you seem to have a rather dodgy stereotype of the country in your head...

Callum after going on TA and reading the forums, it's piqued my curiosity! Especially the "Gorilla's in the Mist" potential scenario, certainly off the beaten track.

Me too! I've done a lot of travel but have barely touched Africa. Hopefully I can see a lot more of it over the next few years.

Yeah, Uganda is amazing from what i've read and see on t.v documentaries. I like the idea of going on a gorilla & chimpanzee trek and exploring the nature. South Africa (specifically, cape town) is also on my list, as well as going to Tanzania to visit the serengeti national park and viewing the great migration from a hot air balloon. The majority of my friends are boring when it comes to travel and would rather go on a "lad's" holidays and partying holidays, whereas i like the history, culture and fantastic scenery of countries.

You're the sort of traveller I like. You will have an amazing journey, just stay safe, be vigilant about your safety and enjoy.

I had honestly never ever thought of Uganda until you mentioned it and I googled. Now I'm open to the idea?!?!?! South Africa is a beautiful country, so try to explore beyond CT......Kruger National Park, Durban, PE for whale watching, the Garden Route (did it once, will NEVER do it again, I hate being stuck in a car for hours), Ballito Bay, Knysna Forest, Tsitsikama, I could go on......

I have Tanzanian friends and on my bucket list is Mount Kilimanjaro. It looks amazing. Look at tagging Zanzibar to that trip.

A Colleague is going to Gambia in a few weeks, he's heard good things about it. Kenya is supposed to be FAB too.

Africa is a huge continent, lots to see, lots to do.

The OP, unfortunately, is completely delusional.

He ain't going anywhere near Uganda.
