swapping numbers

OH is using more minutes than her contract allows but I have much larger free minutes which I don't use
Is there any way of swapping the numbers over without terminating contract which have a year or so to run ?

What he said. Once you port a number the acc is closed. No way around that.

He only has to send a text to each of his contacts informing them of his new number (hers) and for her to do the same and it's job done.
That's what millions of people do when they get a new number anyway.
It's his only option so far as I can see

How do you know that it's *millions*?
Normally people prefer to stick to the same number and change it in exceptional circumstances only. That's why we have porting and PACs.

    Does it really matter ?
I've changed my number a number of times over the years and pretty much everyone in my phone book has too at 1 time or another so I'd suggest it's a pretty common occurrence...or has been in the past.
It's certainly not a big enough issue to prevent the op doing as I suggest unless he has a reason he hasn't told us about.
I couldn't tell you the mobile number of anyone I know, the number isn't important,we all use the persons name don't we so once the swap is done I can't really see any issues for the op or his wife

    Well, my experience is different.
I'd hate to keep changing numbers in my contacts list and wouldn't want my friends to do this.
Also, I have my number registered with several banks that they use for security purposes.
Personally, I wouldn't change my number to save a few pounds over the next year.
