O/S Daily Thursday 29th January 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine?

Morning All
I think I'm better! Going back to work today but will have to fight with the snow first, I have seen the gritter on the main road but nothing here yet so just a few yards to negotiate!
Washing still hanging about, made worse by all my pjs and having to strip the bed every morning as I have sweat so much. Still, it was a bit better last night.
Had baked pot for tea last night, not had one for ages and I really enjoyed it. Salmon and veggies tonight.
Hugs to all having a rough time, TA sorry the news wasn't as expected but glad there don't seem to have been any side effects from injection.
Stay safe, especially if you have this darned snow. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Still dark, but looks damp and still blustery, but not frosty.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work.
Dinner last night was roast chicken, LO beef, mash, veg and gravy. Had a bit of a last minute nightmare, as I opened the packaging to put the chicken in the roasting dish and it had a use by date of 29 Jan 2015 but was off – so re-wrapped it and took it straight back to shop I bought it from, the assistant was nice enough but just said go and chose another, which I did and then I picked up another item, took it all back to the Customer Services desk and she then said I couldn’t pay for the other item there, so left the new chicken there went to the tills paid for other item, then picked up the chicken on the way out. I didn’t get offered a refund, she didn’t want to see my receipt when I offered it or want my name and address – so quite obviously I’m not going to get any kind of apology or compensation, as I had to go travel back by car to take their faulty product back. I would at least expect a refund for the item – or am I expecting too much? I thought most big SM’s do at least a “refund and replace” for faulty goods? I have emailed their Head Office as I’m not happy as on their website as they are now offering home delivery if your goods are not fresh that are delivered they are given to you free of charge – should that not apply to in-store goods too? I await their response.
Did get the usual chores done yesterday afternoon once I got home from work. I’m also going to visit the PO in our village today to put some more money on my telephone account as I’ve changed my package and it’s going to be more expensive, but we now have wi-fi with unlimited broadband as both boys had tablets for xmas from my parents and as we didn’t have wi-fi before they couldn’t use them for everything at home, but now they can. It’s cut how much they use their phones too. The router we had was getting old and becoming unreliable at times, so it needed to be changed so just did it sooner than expected.
Dinner tonight will be haggis, mash, veg and gravy.
Have a list of jobs to do today as we’re going away tomorrow so effectively lose one of my days’ off this week. Today I’ll be going to do the food shopping, need to do the housework, washing, drying and ironing, then pack. So have a busy day planned.
Have a good Thursday everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Hugs to Mr and Mrs TA sorry the news was not what you wanted.
No snow here
not a flake, in fact it seems fairly mild so don't think we will be getting any today !
Off to work for me busy day today but will loads of clients who are a younger group and great fun so I look forward to Thursdays.
Fish fingers chips and beans for dinner and I have my shopping being delivered.
Did a wash and dried it last night so basket is empty for a while.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all. Well plans scuppered here thanks to this darned snow!!! 3 DGDs sleeping over for the school run this morning. But there will be no school run as school has texted to say school will be shut!! Aaargh that means we have them all day and our plans of shopping and lunch out are scuppered too! The car is going nowhere this morning, unless we dig it out of the garage! Blooming snow disrupting everything!!
Youngest DGD up at 5.45 but the other 2 still asleep so we are creeping about quietly and watching Peppa Pig yet again! Just sneaked up to tell Mr TA there is no rush for him to get up either. Still no side effects kicking in from the injection so it looks as though he is escaping them.
Phone call from DB last night. SIL has now gone down with the bug. It sounds horrendous and seems to go on at it's worst for about 4 days. I am not visiting as I can't do with us lot getting it. I may sound callous but thoughts of 3 children with D & V doesn't sound very appealing!!!!!
Middle DGD now up and a big smile when I said school was shut! The eldest still asleep,. We can't get to her bed at night and in the morning we can't get her out of it!!
Glad you are feeling better at last Camelot.
Well I need to ransack the freezer soon and find something for their lunch. Hadn't anticipated that! Tea all sorted as that was going to be sausage and mash. Perhaps cheese and ham toasties and a bowl of hm soup would appeal to them.
Have a good day all and hope you have escaped the blooming snow disrupting everything. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone.
So glad to hear you're on the mend Camelot.
Well, snow in Glasgow wasn't as bad as expected, lots of flurries and then nothing though overnight there was some more. Main roads clear, motorway to Stirling slow with only one lane being used and then Stirling roads totally clear. Think it's worse back home!
I got some antibiotics on Tuesday for a troublesome blocked sebaceous gland and I feel SO much better, my other sinus related problems are clearing up and I'm so much more perkier. Think my whole respiratory system was in a mess.
There's only eight more weeks left at work - :j - then I can stop, no more need to do this awful travelling and just start to enjoy life a little bit better. Just in time for spring too.
Had breakfast, lunch is cooked chicken again, it's so easy to bring to work. Need to get my 'work mode' into gear now.
Happy Thursday everyone.0 -
Good morning all,
Still no snow, although flurries are promised for later, it is very cold though.
Camelot pleased you are feeling better today, but take it steady.
Gers, do you mean you will be giving up work for good? If so what a lovely spring and summer you will have.
Himself is still coughing like a train, but the cold has dried up, and not so many sound effects:)
My dear sister and BIL came yesterday and she had bought me one of the poppies from the Tower of London. It is gorgeous, and it came with a lovely booklet entitled "Your piece of History". It had only just been delivered because she ordered it and then it was posted at a later date. I am absolutely thrilled with it.
Just put the WM on, not planning on going out today, just general housework.
Stay safe everyone and keep warm

I'm due a smear test too. But I've been poked, prodded and pulled around far too much lately at the endless dentist appointments and osteopath visits, I just can't face anything else at the moment

Not a great start – master tru was pulling off the drive to go right, there's loads of parked cars on this side of the road. There was a gap in the traffic so he pulled out, except it wasn't a gap, there was a small car which he couldn't see because of the parked cars. Just a tiny bump - the right of his bumper, the left of hers. I wouldn't have thought she'd bother with a claim but they swapped details so we'll have to wait and see.
My little Christmas trees have been repotted and are living in the greenhouse at the moment. When the weather improves I'll find a nice spot for them in the garden. Somewhere I can see them and they look nice, but where the chickens can't demolish them. I feel like I'm being challenged

My Christmas blanket has been unravelled and restarted. It's white, green and red, it was awful and looked like I'd desecrated the Italian flag

Just finished writing today's job list, so I'm off for a shower before I get stuck in.

Morning all
Sitting here watching the tennis on tv and the sun is shining.
Cat seems to have recovered well from her teeth extraction; all she wants to do is eat!
I need to get going as I have some cakes to make (chocolate brownies and some shortbread I think) plus cleaning and tidying up around the house. No need to go out as DH will pick up a newspaper but need to check out parking and look at a map of Bedford as meeting DD there after work to see a couple of flats.
Enjoy your day everyone.0 -
Well the earth moved for us last night!! We had just gone to bed when the bed rattled, there was a loud bang, the house shook. We had an earthquake, the epicentre was near Cottesmore in Rutland, just a few miles away from us. No damage thankfully.
Bright morning, windy and I suspect cold. Everything for this afternoon is on the floor in the sitting room, will be packing the car shortly. I needed to go early to get everything set out.
Not doing anything this morning I need to comserve my energy.0
