Barclaycard AP/AR markers

Options
hi there,

Looking for some advice. I had some financial difficulties back in 2006 and defaulted on a number of credit cards. Barclaycard didn't default me but marked it as an ongoing arrangement to pay which I understand is common for them.

If they had defaulted me in 2006, it would have came off in 2012. I have records as early as 2009 of me writing and phoning them to request the arrangement come to an end however they kepts auto-renewing it. I have just settled the balance of the account and it was closed yesterday.

I wrote to them quoting the ICO on the guidelines for arrangements to pay being a short term arrangement, informing them I felt it should have been defaulted back in 2006 and requesting the account be deleted from my records with all CRA.

They have wrote back to me today agreeing to remove it from my credit records with effect from Jan 31st 2015 and offering me £75 compensation " for the distress and inconvenience caused by this matter"

So my query is: shouild I realistically be pursuing them for further damages since they have ruined my credit record for an extra 3 years. This has prevented me from moving debt I'm trying to pay off to 0% deals and therefore cost me additional interest I could have otherwise avoided.

I've to reply to them and if I accept this "resolution" they will send me the £75.

Thanks,
knox
Good afternoon Mr knoxvillain,

I have reviewed the repayment plan on your Barclaycard account, and this data should no longer be on your credit file. I have arranged for this data to be deleted from your file and updated with the three credit reference agencies to whom we report such data, this will be reflected after 31 January 2015.

As a gesture of goodwill I would like to offer you £75.00 for the distress and inconvenience caused by this matter, this can be credited directly into your bank account, or sent by post in the form of a cheque. I would be grateful if you could reply to advise if this is a satisfactory resolution, and to confirm how you would like me forward the goodwill gesture amount to you if this resolution has been accepted.

Kind regards,

xxxxxx xxxxxxxx

I have every sympathy for your situation dumpyboy but don't come and crap all over mine with your bitterness. Not my fault they decided one way in your case and another in mine. Am I not as deserving of advice because I had a more positive result?

If congratulate you and advising you you got a good result upsett you that much I am sorry go ahead and try and get more but look at other people's threads who have fail to get AR markers removed they might barclays might just think there complainets have been rejected we will try with yours
  • I would take the offer and move on.

It's difficult to quantify your loss by not getting the card and even harder to prove it was because of that arrangement.

Getting them to change it is a good result, some have failed to get them to do this.

I had something similar with Lloyds and AR markers. I would take the offer and run, as said by others... this is much better than what others have achieved.
  • Modder, did you have any success with Lloyds? My husband had an Ap which he didn't pay for 6mths but it wasn't marked as a default. If it had it would have dropped off his record last month instead of next year when it will be 6 years from settlement date.
  • thanks to those who've posted something constructive.

I wonder if the thing that made the difference for me is I have letters and call records going back as far as 2009 asking then to end the arrangement to pay as my financial situation had improved and I was able to afford to make normal payments again and be charged interest. they even agreed to end the arrangement on the phone a couple of times (oversees call centre) and then it never happened

Risking getiting my head bit off again if you read my post you see that in my mind my dmp ended in 2009 after I won 2 complainets about interest rates hike and ppi mbna and sainsbury ,barclays returned both a loan account and barclaycard to normal with no Ar markers with me makeing full payments and interest ,until they settled in 2011 mbna refused and the ombudsman s said I agreed a 14 year repayment plan and it has to stand and they have right to report for the full 14 plus 6 years

    Hi Sparkly Momma,

Yes I had success, at first I was told no but then I got a call from someone at customer services complaints team in their Rosyth office (not the Rosyth Lloyds bank branch) and they agreed after I sent them proof of the AR markers on my credit file to remove them and they refunded me all the interest back too of about £250ish.

If you can get through to somone Rosyth then they are very helpful, I'm sure I have the number somewhere, I could maybe dig it out.

    Thanks
