Unidentified transaction POS

Where does it even say ANN SUMMERS on the transaction? *rolls eyes*
It says "SP & L D Summers Mablethorpe"
Have you bought anything online from a small business?
Maybe on Amazon?
Definitely not. I generally don't buy things online unless it's christmas. I haven't had the funds to buy anything new since Christmas, either
For a transaction of £8 your bank will probably just refund you. It's not worth disputing for them. The dispute process costs more than that.
I will insist there's a trace. What if it continues in the future?
Visa have told me that it was an authorized payment that was made by me entering my pin. There's no time logged on the transaction.
I think the best step is to reverse the transaction and wait for this 'company' to cry foul play and reveal themselves.
Apparently, my pin was entered on 24/01/2015. That was a Saturday. A Saturday during which I washed the car, did the dishes, and in the evening we went to the pub for a meal (which showed up separate). Baffling.I can't add up.0 -
I find it hard to believe that Visa have spoken to an individual cardholder about a transaction and not simply directed them to their card issuer.0

Where have you created this story? I've not said who directed me where.
I called my bank, they referred me to a fraud dept (theirs or visa) and they referred me to visa customer service who tried to look into it more (because they couldn't see any detail of the transaction other than what I could see. None of them).
I also find it hard to believe that visa have spoken to an individual cardholder about a transaction and not simply directed them to their card issuer. Although what that relates to, I have no idea. If they'd referred me to my card issuer, I'd have been pretty peeved as they're the one that I was referred to by the card issuer in the first place.
I can't add up.0 -
However, you've been asked and failed to answer the question.supermassive wrote: »Where have you created this story? I've not said who directed me where.
Most likely it was your bank, not Visa. They have all the information they need for all transactions and are very unlikely to 'refer' customers to Visa.I called my bank, they referred me to a fraud dept (theirs or visa) and they referred me to visa customer service who tried to look into it more (because they couldn't see any detail of the transaction other than what I could see. The bank can't charge back PIN verified transactions. It will cost them far more than £8 to look into this further. If the OP "demands" they look into it, they will simply write it off. It's not cost effective for them to do anything else.0

It's your story not mine. In at least two previous posts you said that you had spoken to Visa, and I doubted that. You've now given us an entirely different story, and while I still doubt that you spoke to Visa I expect grumbler has it right that you were speaking to your bank.0 -
This thread is entirely confusing.
Are we dealing with a credit or debt card here..... Have you cancelled the card yet??? Have you ever written down the pin number anywhere.
Visa is only a provider for financial institutions to use their name and brand etc, You cannot speak directly to visa they would have no way of seeing the transaction.
Also no one has asked, But what number did you call OP to actually reach "visa".
Pin verified or verified by visa transactions dont get refunded by banks as the point of these systems was to prevent fraud, and someone claiming fraud is either chancing their luck or had a card clone or knows all your information etc. In that case you need to prove you didn't make the transaction and submit a claim to the FOS. Because the bank wont entertain a dispute using a pin verified transaction.
And the bank will have the time and date of the transaction and for them to say they dont well i would get them to check further. Also when you go to the fraud dep. they normally have a phone number for the merchant and either they call them or get you to call.0 -
My mum has just come to me with exactly the same problem... except it was for £24... did anyone get to the bottom of it... it's slightly worrying! even more so, she was in Australia at the time!!
Thanks in advance!0 -

The company is "SP & L D Summers Mablethorpe" (Before you ask, no I haven't been to mablethorpe... in about 2 years) I've contacted Visa and they're none the wiser, saying it's a catering company according to their merchant code... but there's no transaction time and it's definitely been done with chip and pin, so un-fakeable.
It's for £8, which isn't the end of the world, but it makes me worry about future transactions and what they might be from this company I don't know.
If anyone can help to identify the company, I'll be very very grateful.
Did you ever get to the bottom of this because my mum has had the same transaction!

Yes they can, the back can raise a chargeback 75 for an unrecognised chip and pin verified transaction.0
