how to get a bank account after bankrupcy

Hi, could anyone please tell me how my son can start a bank account, he has been made bankrupt which is due to end on 24/feb/2015. he may be able to get a job but the firm wants to pay his wage direct into his bank but he can't get an account without the correct ID all he has is his driving licence, his passport has run out and he is living in my house so he has no bills in his name and nothing to verify he is living at my address.
any advise on what he could do would be much appreciated.

  • Thinking outside the box... Until he opens his own account, could he have his wages paid into yours?

A picture driving licence will be accepted as proof of ID. A tax code notice from the HMRC will be sufficient as proof of address.

Depending on the state of his credit files, he might only be able to apply for a basic account.

  • thanks for the quick replies, I don't really want his pay in my bank because I am self employed and don't want the hassle.
I will see if he has paper work from the HMRC and give it a try, unfortunately he used to bank with Barclays so he is not looking forward to asking for an account with them. fingers crossed. it's not easy for someone to start over after getting into money problems.

No harm in trying. Worst case scenario, he should be able to get a basic account with Co-Op.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
