Hi
I have a fluid card with mbna, its a 0% balance transfer deal.
Last payment dates were:
25/1/2015 (sunday)
27/12/2014
I pay using BACS transfer and I sent the payment via faster payments on 23/1/2015 - but they have recorded the payment as received on 26-1-2015 and slapped on a default sum notice.
1) can they set the due date on a Sunday when they are closed?
2) I have sent the payment via FPO and my current account statement says so as well. Can they technically do that when funds left my account and theoretically it should have been processed there and then.

'Payment due' dates can fall on a Saturday or Sunday, as the card has to balance the "up to xx days interest-free" with months of different length.londonTiger wrote: »2) I have sent the payment via FPO and my current account statement says so as well. MBNA says in their literature that funds arriving in business hours Mon-Fri will be allocated instantly to the appropriate account. Otherwise it will be done on the next business day.
What time on Friday did that FP go out? But then, FP usually arrive the same day, but they are only guaranteed to arrive at the end of the next business day.
Phone MBNA, eat humble pie and hopefully you will not lose the 0% deal. (And set-up a DD, in the case of a due-date on a weekend, it will be taken on Monday, but credited to our account on either Saturday or Sunday.)0 -
Providing there are no restrictions on your credit card account, Faster Payments made between 8am and 4pm, Mon to Fri, will be completed and available for you to use within 2 hours of us receiving funds from your bank.
Outside of these hours, or on a weekend/bank holiday, your payment should be received by us and available for you to use by 10am on the next business day.
What time did you make the faster payment?
I would call up MBNA and ask nicely for them to remove the charge. If it's your first time you should be ok.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. Just my luck. Payment sent 16:10 on Friday (23/1/2015).

I have phoned them up and they have reversed it but I was a bit annoyed by the fact that I was made to feel that I should be grateful for their "goodwill". They reversed the fee and reinstated the promotion.
The fact remains I have paid the funds via faster payments to their account so they have received their payment on their bank accounts on the Friday.
Just because they are slow to process the payment and did so on the following Monday why should that fall on me.0 -

If you leave it that late to make a payment you'll always run the risk of a default. It is your problem not theirs. Whatever you might think.0 -
Set up a DD for the minimum amount.0
