Its all up there in the subject line. Moved to a newish-build house that i ama renting for a year. No cable in the area.
Not really bothered about TV but at the moment, if we get TV along with the broadband sky have offered to subsidise the price on phone line installation (£140). However, they also have quite a high monthly fee.
Are there any other options? In newcastle so wimax/now.co.uk isnt an option.

We're in a no cable area and the only way for us to get BB was to have a BT phoneline installed. Even other ISPs wanted a BT phoneline so not really sure what your options are.0

No matter who you use (other than cable) they still use the same line that BT use & if you want to connect to them they will charge an installation fee (usually the same price as BT £124.99inc vat). If you choose BT they will offer you the option of spreading the cost over the year but you will have to ask them.0

Have you thought of asking neighbours if you could pay them to use/share their connection through wi-fi?[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."
