Trouble paying for two contracts from separate bank accounts
Two years ago my wife decided she would like to have a contract mobile phone but couldnt get one because she had no credit history.
The shop were quite happy for our daughter to take another one out in her name and it was in fact them who suggested it.
This was carphone warehouse and the provider was t-mobile, my wife set up a direct debit from her bank account to pay for the second contract that was in my daughters name.
This worked fine until two months ago when my wifes contract came up for re-newing and she became eligible for an up grade.
So off she went to carphone warehouse with my daughter (still no credit history) upgraded to the latest model, changed to EE and my daughter signed a new contract for a second phone in her name, the staff assured them that the payments for the second phone would continue to come out of my wifes bank as before.
Fast forward a month and a panic phone call from my daughter saying that the money for both contracts had come out of her account as one lump sum and weren't even separated despite the fact they are two different contracts.
I had to log into EE web site, find out what portion of the bill was my wifes and transfer the money to my daughters account to prevent her going overdrawn.
My daughter has contacted both the carphone warehouse and EE to try and sort this out (they wont speak to my wife, its not her contract) but to no avail, she has been told that she cant have two separate payments from two different bank accounts for two different contracts despite having done this for the two years leading up to her renewel.
If this cant be resolved I will be stuck with having to carry out the same proceedure every month.
Any suggestions? Was my daughter mis-sold the contract on the basis she was told payments could come out of different accounts?

This will teach her not to believe a word any sales person tells her.
Yes, she was missold if she can prove this. Most likely CPW will deny everything.
I don't think that it's a big trouble for you to set a Standing Order to pay her. Unfortunately, this can't protect her if your wife exceeds the allowances thus making the DD payment bigger, but your daughter can (and has to) check the bills in advance and let you know if needed.
Alternatively you can move the DD to your account and your daughter will pay you her part.0 -

Thanks for that, I can of course go down that route but my point is two contracts, two direct debits, why cant they come out of different bank accounts?
If my daughter went on line and cancelled the direct debit for my wifes phone and then restarted it from my wifes account what would happen? Would both direct debits cancel and restart from my wifes account?0 -
It sounds like your daughter must have moved to EE and CPW have basically requested the connection to be attached to the same account as your daughter's.
It is usually possible to separate the 2 subscriptions so that they are on different accounts, specifically for the purpose you want. It was always possible to do this when I worked for Orange so cannot see why it cannot be done here. Have you specifically asked them to split the numbers so they are on separate accounts or just asked for 2 DDs for the same account. Either way, an account split should really have been offered.0
