Tesco Fibre Broadband

Wonder if anyone can offer any advice. I recently had Tesco Fibre Broadband fitted. The whole process was a bit of a nightmare and I was without any service over Xmas and New Year. However it is now working but I am not receiving the 38mg speeds as promised. Tesco sent out an engineer to check the BT equipment (as it has to run through a BT router first?)and he said that the BT equipment is definately receiving a constant speed 38-40mg. He thought the Tesco router was the issue. Tesco sent out a new router but the speeds are still not stable. The speeds range from 38mg to 6mg all in the space of seconds. If I cancel the Tesco contract and take one from BT does anyone think I will receive a constant speed?

Are you measuring the download speed via ethernet connection ( ie hard wired) or wireless ? In cases like this should always check via ethernet -if the speed still varies wildly on both routers then further checks are necessary..0

The service will arrive via the same BT line .
You can cancel by paying the full term due .
Otherwise its up to the supplier to agree to cancel .
How/ where is the router connected to the master socket ??0 -

Thanks for the replies. The speed to the bt box doesn't seem to fluctuate as the bt engineer showed me the readings. The speeds are checked with an ethernet cable and the bt router is plugged into the master socket. There is then a cable goes from the bt box to the tesco box. Getting a new router from tesco hasn't solved the issue. also checked the speed on my pc without the ethernet cable and it is 2mg! My thinking is that if the speeds to the bt box are stable at 38mg the issue is with tesco and changing to bt might solve the issue ? Any advice would be appreciated0 -
f you mean by BT Box the master socket and its stable at 38 meg then apart from the router the problem is within your house .
(There is then a cable goes from the bt box to the tesco box )
Try replacing that .
(also checked the speed on my pc without the ethernet cable and it is 2mg )
Something wrong with your WiFi then .
Why not unplug all and set up again .0 -
What about your UPLOAD speed? nil?0
