Weekly statements Barclays...

Ok so what are Barclays weekly statements?? In online banking you can change statement preference to weekly as well as monthly/quarterly etc.. Never seen a bank do this before... Dose that mean the will sent a statement out each week?? Is it a good idea to have weekly statements or best for choose monthly??

You need to think about your personal requirements, the way you manage your money, and make your own mind up. Personally I don't want or use statements at all, just keep them as a 'just in case' archive.

I like to have a paper copy just incase you need it and got enough space to store them... all statements get sent to cloud it as well as paper in post... So I choose weekly. That means they get send out every week? Never had weekly statements before? It doesn't say statement due date when I choose weekly but it dose when choose monthly/quarterly etc... I think weekly is a good idea as I can see what has gone in/out each week.. Then at end of month can check all weekly statements for that month...

Although I only get quarterly statements they do come in handy as proof of identity if required when opening a new account if the electronic validation fails.

Paper statements are then useful as statements downloaded from on line accounts are not accepted by some institutions.

I don't think weekly statements are really good enough. We should have the right to daily statements. Come to think of it, I'd prefer hourly statements, or real-time statements to be honest. It's just not good enough to have the most recent transactions showing on our online banking without having proper statements being produced second by second, is it . The cost of producing real-time statements is justified by the fact that most of our bank accounts are free of charge....oh hang on, may be there's a flaw in my logic. But I shall ignore that and assume that I can demand whatever I whim :)

I also don't think banks should get away with making statements available online only (never trusted that interweb, anyway - Tim Burners-Lee, what was he up to, I don't know, do you?...). I want to be able to touch my bank statements, feel that crispy crunchiness of the paper they have been printed on, for each and every single one of them. I just love my paper bank statements. After all, loosely in the words of Alex Salmond: they are my bank statements and I will keep them, even if they are no use ever to me or to anyone else. We got to show these banks how powerful we are.

Well if you run a club and society account with multiple signatories you have no option other than to have paper statements.
......and what with people paying in and out the only way of figuring out what is happening and who has not paid is by these paper statements.

  • Weekly (paper) bank statements are not normally free, you will have to pay for each statement
