Financial associates, does my score help them?

Options
Hi all.
Sorry if it's been posted before but I'm new and can't seem to find anything on this.

I have recently checked my credit score as I would like a credit card. I have the 30 days free with Experian at the moment. I looked at the financial associates, not knowing what it means but just because it said there was one record. Opening it I found that my ex-partner of over 5 years ago is there! I contacted Experian straight away and they removed him.
Further down it goes on about financial associate searches, and he shows someone searched for my ex-partners credit last year in August.

Does my score, which given the fact I'm only 23 and a full time student is pretty good, affect his chance of getting credit - cards, loans, mortgages etc ?
Not to be a meanie pants but I don't want him to bring my score down and I dont want to bring his up - he has done nothing for me since we split or our son, not even paid maintenance (whole other matter), so I don't want to help him.
Sounds cruel, but why should I?

Rambling. Anyway, does anyone know if my score helps him get credit?

Thanks x

Yes, it would have affected his chances of obtaining credit and vice versa - if he had a poor rating it would have affected your chances.

Now that you've disassociated yourself, you won't have to worry about this anymore. Make sure you obtain your reports from Equifax and Noddle as well and confirm that you've removed his association from those files too.

  • If I was to phone up the person who did the search and tell them I'm not associated with him anymore, could that change if he gets or doesn't get the credit? Not htat I would, just something I thought of just.

No it wouldn't as credit searches are done by computers automatically and there is no human intervention involved. Also as it was last year in August, you would have no way of knowing whether he was successful or declined for credit as you don't have a copy of his report, nor should you.
