NOW TV entertainment channels subject to change

Options
Hi all,

As a cost cutting exercise I decided to drop Sky TV in favour of Freesat Humax. When trying to leave Sky they informed me that although I could get the Disney/Nickelodeon channels for now they could be subject to change month on month though they said it was a different dept so couldn't confirm.

Can anyone verify this? Is it just a standard tactic? I'm reducing £33 excessive charge for family package to £6.99 since if you only watch a few channels it doesn't provide good value for money!

Yes, they are subject to change. Sky have agreements in place with content providers to provide content via Now TV. These deals are not infinite and channels will no longer be available via Now TV should an agreement not be renewed for any reason. Similarly, the channels themselves have agreements in place regarding the content they can offer through Now TV or other on-demand platforms (such as on-demand via a Sky box) and it may be that a channel is unable to secure adequate rights to make continuing a Now TV channel viable.

But, with that said, the likelihood of the channels being removed from Now TV I would state is relatively low as most channels are trying to increase their exposure and Now TV is a platform that is beneficial for them and Sky wants to make Now TV an attractive offering.

Now TV box isn't just free channels, you get box sets too that you can watch as well as access to some terrestrial catch up. However, not all terrestrial catch up is available nor is all content viewable on the live channels. (though this can also be true on the plus one channels on freeview).
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.
