Every family has a nightmare person in it! (you are not alone in that!)

I think you should refuse to tell him anything about your bills/debts etc. Does he own a house or is he the person who rents? Is part of the problem that he has got quite an easy life with very small bills?

Personally I would try to pay him off just to get rid of him.

Also remember that you don't know what HE tells his girlfriend about you and your situation so it might not be coming from her like you think it is.
  • For what it's worth, I think you are making the right decision. Just from reading this thread it seems the other route was causing unwanted stress - I think it's too easy to overlook your own mental health when scrimping and saving, no matter how focused or well-intentioned people are being.

I hope you are able to pay off the loan at a price that is reasonable and, if you wish, are able to maintain a relationship with this family member.
