Just called up for a cheeky mortgage balance and a couple of days ago we'd've been in the £213ks. As it is were a few quid into the £214ks

    Happy with that :)

well done :] 210k is the next target go get it :]

Thanks SR..... Good to keep shoulder to shoulder with you :D

I'm a bit of knitter / crocheter. My speciality is baby blankets. I tend to make them for the same person who knows lots of people who know lots of pregnant people. I don't make any real cash on it, I do it because I enjoy it and it makes my commute shorter! If you see anyone knitting on the tube, it's likely to be me :rotfl:

  • Monday morning again.

Few things to report since last time.

    Beginning of Aug mortgage £214,093
    July total OP £593
Total OP for 2015 to date £4563

Already paid £500 more in Aug. some stashed away for hopefully another OP.

A few weeks of a bit of spending here and there so not many NSDs.
Food shopping has all been in budget and started saving a little on my daily commute by walking the last bit instead of the tube. That's only when I get a particular train which is not often as it means leaving the house that little bit earlier than I usually can.

Spending on garden stuff, masonry paint, some preloved garden toys for DD which I'm in the process of up cycling. Went to the cinema but used a tesco voucher.

Mum bought a batch of new clothes and pjs for DD so hopefully will stave off (not so)baby clothes spending for a while.

Received a letter from an old (pre 2000) pension with a deferred value of £3000 (in 2040) Need to investigate if it's best to amalgamate with my current or cash in.

Naughty spends have included - eating out 3 times in 2 weeks - oops but only 1 was without vouchers/codes. And annoyingly got a parking ticket for parking outside my mate's house on the path. £55 (instead of £110) to the council Grrr- so instead of paying this (full) year's car tax I paid for 6 months and used the rest for the ticket!!

Also with DD & OH being off together in school hols, OHs oyster usage has been rather significant. If he'd have planned his trips I'dve added a week travel card to his account- would have saved a bit of £ than PAYG but hey, ho they're having a nice time together. (While I'm at work racking up extra days of in lieu)

    Plans for this week include
    - no shopping til the weekend (pick up free (excess) milk at work)
    - Off to Ireland next week so need more euros (actually I need to sort the super card registration)
    - Out with the girls on weds eve (with a voucher)
    - meeting up with another friend Friday- still to decide if it's a day or night, which impacts on the wallet
    - iron broke yesterday so need to investigate getting a new one (check local FB groups)
    - Look into O2 priority for a boots meal deal special as a lunchtime treat while at work

Hoping for 2 NSDs this week (wishful thinking for a 3 in a row)

Took me so long to write that post nearly missed my stop ;-)

  • Hi MIB, good to hear your doing well. Not having kids I forget how all you parents have to juggle the spending on clothes, summer hols etc! I admire you all, I can barely account for my own spending!

Hope you get some days off to spend with DD too. Oh, and I'll definitely look out for people on the tube knitting!!

  • One more day at work then 2 weeks "off". Given we have an 18 month old there's never really time off. I suppose its 2 weeks off my paid job ;-)

Will be on holiday with OH's family in Ireland from weds so the in laws will no doubt kidnap the baby from us and give us a nice break.

Stuff going on over the last week.
    - Weds night out with the girls was cancelled ....boooo but an NSD
    - Friday dinner out with friend turned into her bday pressy treat to me so no spend there.
So the pocket money budget looks nice.
    - Have (I think) got to the bottom of our energy bill crisis. They reissued new bills/bill reversal activity which meant we were £1000 in debit. I knew that was very wrong. So trawled through all the old and updated bills , called them and think I've solved it. Subsequently when they reissue them next week we will not owe £1,000. I'm secretly hoping there'll be credit in the account but thats just too much to wish for.
    - Managed two NSDs (one yesterday, didnt go out as DD poorly and one today office colleague brought in cupcakes so wasnt tempted to stray to the bakery/supermarket/calorie shop)
    - Hope to have another tomorrow for my 3 in a row. I spotted they were giving out more free coffee and cake vouchers near the tube station near the office, so I'll have to lurk around there tomorrow.
    - Had a low spend supermarket shop but spent a fortune stickpiling nappies. Still within budget
    - still awaiting a refund from the airline from a few months ago. Chased two weeks ago so will call again from work tomorrow (their phone bill) to chase them.

Joint account looking healthy with a much bigger than normal stash hidden away from view for a possible OP. Hoping that the euros won't too much of that up.

    That'll do, getting late

  • Had a quick play with the figures (mmmm.... spreadsheets....) and I think we may miss the £213ks and hop skip and jump straight to the £212ks.
    That'd be nice.
Still need to make the usual month end sweep (currently looking healthy but who knows until we get there)

Had a free lunch today.... there is no such thing it was attached to a v nauseating meeting but hey ho.

Off on our holidays tomorrow and have managed to register the supercard. I also saw that we can set the tesco CC to be the default payment card meaning we can withdraw cash and also collect clubcard points on the spend.

    Brill!

3rd NSD in a row and 7th of the month.

Given ourselves a bidget for holiday and going to do my best to stick to it with out being a holiday-grinch.

  • Woohoo on skipping into the £212ks!! Brilliant job - you're closing in fast on the sub-200k mark, such a massive achievement.

With that goal in your head I'm sure you'll make sure holiday spending doesn't get the better of you. And fab news about the £1,000 energy bill - wish my debt with them was their mistake but I'm pretty sure it's mine!!
