Better Buy Gold

I brought a gold one ounce sovereign at the beginning of last month and the value of it has increased by over £100.
That's better than any savings account I could lay my hands on.
I think many avoid storage cost by not advertising the fact they own it.
Anyone else investing in physical gold?

Gold is a useful asset class to hold as part of a balanced portfolio.
You need to look at your gold holdings compared to everything else.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
To my mind, physical gold isn't an investment, whilst I do hold it.
Remember what you paid for that Coin? Now go to somewhere like the Bullion By Post website and see what you can sell it for. I doubt you have made £100, in real terms.
Gold, in physical form is a funny thing. I buy it when I have spare funds and nothing else tempts me. I am rather reckless in the sense the price doesn't bother me. I buy it for my beneficiaries - they can decide to sell or keep, won't be my problem!0 -
Think of it like this. I don't know you, you don't know me. That applies to everyone here.0

Cool... how exactly do I become one of your beneficiares?0 -
I wouldn't advertise the fact I was storing valuables with lax security, even under a pseudonym. No doubt there are clues in your 253 other posts that could allow certain people to identify you.
I know for certain one person from a previous job knows who I am as I used this account on their computer. And there were only two of us using that computer. But even then he doesn't know where I live as I've moved several times since then.
Security serves one purpose and that's is to keep certain items in my possession. If no one knows where I live then none can be any the wiser. Even if they know my identity.
The company I currently working for, don't even know where I live. :rotfl:
You might say I'm a very private person.0 -
Did you bring it from the shop on your own and if so,were you worried about felonious activity?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
