My Daughter Is Moving house & not taking Virgin Package

My Daughter took out a contract for broadband, phone and TV with Virgin. Everything was in her name. She met someone and moved home.
She didn't cancel virgin and hasn't paid (and refuses to pay the bills)
Shes owes both the monthly subs that has stacked up and possibly a a cancellation fee, It totals around £500.
I can't cancel it because, although it is in my home, it is in her name. I cannot get a lot of information out of them.
I'd also need her signature to cancel.
I have given them her new address and I'm at the stage that:
I cannot get a Virgin account (as there is already one here)
Her new home already has a TV package
She can't pay it.
Is there anything I can do about this?

Only your daughter can cancel it, or 'someone pretending to be' your daughter can cancel it. Surely it's in her interests to cancel it as she's getting no benefit from it and will surely be trashing/have trashed her credit rating by now?
I can't see why Virgin won't offer a new account in your name though - otherwise anyone who bought a new house would be unable to get a new account, if the previous owner hadn't paid (or perhaps this does happen?)0 -
I could cancel it but it will cost me the £500...or transfer it and pay the current debt of approx £265..but then I still need her signature for either option0

It's unlikely someone moving in would have the same surname as the person moving out, in this case VM are obviously thinking it's a ruse to get more services without settling the existing bill
even though the OP is genuine,it's the daughters debt, and the mother wanting service, you can sort of see where VM are coming from, perhaps the OP could try someone else for service0 -
Sounds to me like your daughter has some growing up to do. I can't believe anyone would do that to their parents. If I were you I'd transfer it and pay the £265. If you've been using the service yourself at least you had some value out of it. I'd make your daughter pay you back though and withhold any xmas + birthday presents completely until she has. You should be able to knock the TV down to the minimal package to cut costs.0

The conversation you need to have is with your daughter, not with VM. Neither the account nor the debt are yours. There will be no early termination fee unless she cancels within the minimum term, but the monthly debt will just build up and up.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I recently cancelled my Virgin Media due to moving, I simply rang up said I was moving and that Virgin Media was not available where my new house was and they said fine, we'll send you a box so you can post the router back to us and when we receive it we'll send you a final bill, no signature required.
It's actually annoyed me reading how silly your daughter has been, it's very unfair on you and must be very stressful. Perhaps you have a confident friend who could ring up and pretend to be her. If not poor yourself a glass of wine which you deserve and then ring up after.0 -

Were you still in a minimum term or out of it?0 -

I agree with the above reply.
Your daughter took out the contract in her name, not you.
If your daughter thinks by moving in with someone else it's not her problem, she is sorely mistaken.
Talk to her into cancelling the account and let her set up a repayment plan with them to pay off arrears.
If she will not listen, tell Virgin the facts and give them her new address.
Moving out does not cancel a contract but it can follow them until paid.
Even though you have may have used the service, she is liable to pay it as it's her name on the contract, not yours.
I would not pay any of her arrears but if you want to take over the service then do so after you have dissociated your self from her debt. The more I live, the more I learn.
The more I learn, the more I grow.
The more I grow, the more I see.
The more I see, the more I know.
The more I know, the more I see,
How little I know.!!
