Works perfectly well with mouse and keyboard. It takes very little time and effort to make the transformation. It's different not difficult.
As you have someone that can point out the differences on hand, it should be a breeze.
If you wish to stand still with the OS then fine, but do it for the right reasons, mature or not..;)
All a matter of personal preferences, I suppose. Even DD2 asked to have her laptop reformatted and downgraded to 7 but her motherboard didn't allow the procedure.
We don't need sharing and social networking...As I said , 7 suits us just fine.
Out of curiosity, what's 10 like? More little colourful squares? :rotfl:First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -

Install Start8 or Classic Shell and it looks and acts the same as Win7.
There is little Social Media integration and you don't have to turn sharing on.0 -
Some motherboard manufacturers are not releasing Win7 drivers, so are marketing their boards as Windows 8 only.
I have an HP desktop like this, but if I wanted turn-off secureboot and put Win7 on it, I could install all the required drivers to get it working properly if I so wished.
Just takes time and patience.Never Knowingly Understood.

It sounds like you're stuck in Metro. Press the "Windows" key (between CTRL and ALT bottom-left; has a Windows logo printed on it) and it'll move into Desktop Mode.Happygreen wrote: »Both....DD2 has Win 8 on her laptop and for a more mature person seems a nightmare.
I don't see the point of it for a non-touchscreen machine as 7 was very good.
Any time you accidentally switch to Metro mode in future, just hit the Windows key again and it'll take you back to proper Windows.Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.
Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
And if you install Win8.1 you can set the computer to boot to the desktop by default.PenguinJim wrote: »It sounds like you're stuck in Metro. Press the "Windows" key (between CTRL and ALT bottom-left; has a Windows logo printed on it) and it'll move into Desktop Mode.

If you don't mind a refurb and are not into gaming then this Windows 7 machine may suit. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370916356683?clk_rvr_id=769793983236&rmvSB=true
I got one myself recently and it is very good. The only slight upgrade I did to it was to upgrade the RAM from 2gb to 4gb.0 -
There is ***this*** on ebay however the price has increased £5 in the last few days but still fairly low priced.0
