Burning Laurel on an open fire

Hi, I've read a lot recently on the Internet about burning laurel, some say it's ok and others say it's not.
I have a very large laurel bush in the garden and don't want to miss out on the chance of using it if it's possible.
So....is laurel ok to use on an open fire?
Does anyone know of cases where people have become ill while using it?

I burn it on my stove. I find it quite a good wood. I've never got ill from it and didn't even know you could.0

I burnt a whole Laurel tree(bush) on an open fire without a problem, left it to season for a year.
I cut the tree right down to the ground, and it has started growing again.0 -
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

I burn it in a stove. Not in large volumes and it's all a couple of years seasoned.
Burns really well.0
