And if you could answer the category question, it'll be great help.
Forget the category question, it is of no relevance.
What have Paypal said this morning? You have contacted Paypal like you were told, or have you been typing messages here, because that isn't going to get your money back.
So, what has Paypal said, don't answer unless you have contacted Paypal.0 -

I am trying to take Soolin's advice and open a dispute, it says under what category does the item that you haven't received come in.0 -

It isn't hugely an issue, but I would go for home/consumer electronics.

The category for the dispute isn't a case of 'no relevance', it needs to be filed. It isn't a massive issue, as long as it doesn't go as something not covered, i.e. virtual goods.0 -

Thanks for that, I have opened a case now, although it says that paypal are giving the seller up till 3rd February to respond, can't they resolve it in a time frame quicker than that?
And what kind of evidences shall I provide? We spoke on whatsapp so shall I print screen all of our conversation?0 -

If you opened the case for 'item not delivered', then you only need to show that you have bought an eligible item (i.e. not a virtual item for example) in the correct manner via Paypal.
The onus is on the seller to prove he has delivered it to you, he can only do that with online tracking showing the item as 'delivered'.
Section 13 here will explain it to you.
https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full#13
Section 13.4 is the most relevant to ensure you paid for the item in the correct manner. You sent the payment for your purchase from your PayPal Account to the Payment Recipient’s PayPal Account:
through:
the eBay “Pay Now” button or the eBay invoice; or
for purchases made outside of eBay: the Send Money tab applicable to payments for goods and/or services on the PayPal website or app, or the Payment Recipient's PayPal checkout flow (including, without limitation, the PayPal Location Based Payments Functionality, if used by the Payment Recipient); and
in one instalment only.
Purchases paid for in multiple instalments – like a deposit followed by a final payment – are not eligible.
You should be able to escalate it immediately but Paypal do prefer you to at least try and resolve the issue first. I think they recommend 3 days before escalation.
Whatever you do, do not close the case.0 -

Ok, thank you very much. I escalated the case, the 'seller' isn't responding to my calls or messages. And I don't know how I ignored this email, but one day after I had paid for the item, gumtree emailed me saying that the advert I replied to is suspicious and was removed. So can gumtree help with this investigation? I emailed them regarding this matter.0 -

As has been said it is up to seller now to prove deliver so Be very cautious signing for anything at the door that you are not expecting.
As I mentioned in post 6 you are going to have to wait for your money, seller has to be given time to prove delivery , I thought it was 8 days but would defer to theonlywayisup if they believe it is 3 days.

Gumtree can't help , all they can do is warn against dealing away from the face to face aspect of their site. They will continue to prominently warn people and no doubt people will still continue to ignore the warnings.
These scammers are scum and the only way to stop them is to educate people to use common sense when dealing with strangers wanting money. If we all looked after ourselves and understood what we are doing then these scumbags would have to go and get a real job rather than preying on the vulnerable and the naive.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ok, thank you (and everyone else) who have advised me regarding this situation. I shall update this matter once paypal takes action.0
