Rent4Sure Referencing

Hi I was wondering if anyone had experience in being referenced via this company.

I am looking to rent a property and have been given an application for Rent4Sure. It asks all the usual information including if you have any adverse credit.

I currently have an outstanding CCJ on my credit file, however this is being repaid monthly and will be settled within the next 3 months.

I have been honest on the application and explained this however I was wondering if anyone else is or has been in a similar situation and would the CCJ just result in a definite decline?

Every other aspect of my application should be fine, I am in a stable job and have provided my previous 2 landlords as references who will confirm that I have never missed a rent payment.

Any advice given would be greatly appreciated.

  • I'm a landlord & I think they asked me about a tenant: If it is them my recollection was that they appeared to need to go on some courses & I have & had no plans ever to use them.
  • I have seen a few comments dotted about the internet stating that they are not the best company to use which is slightly concerning :(

Interesting responses as I've always been of the opinion that all the referencing companies did basically the same thing...
  • Hi, I will never go with an Agent who uses Rent4Sure again. Its been a nightmare from start to finish and I thought I was looking to rent a house not work for the MI5. My current Landlord who I also rent from before gave us glowing references but did one check on my wife and then phoned the Landlord again for me the following week. I think living there for years together then we would have the same reference!!! I felt unless you nagged them then they would not go onto the next check, etc considering it is supposed to be a 72 hour turnaround, we went into week 2. It took them a week after my Wife's application to even start on my application. I've been checked by other agencys in the past eg, NLA and they do same checks at half the cost and in half the time and don t ask for half a tree in paperwork. Never again!!!!
  • Rent 4 Sure is the most useless referencing company I have ever come across!
What was supposed to take 3-7 days has taken 15, and still ongoing. They continuously ring me, and ask for references Ive already sent, and take 3 days between each call to sort out anything. They cannot communicate between each other and the letting agency.

Never ever use this company- cost me £270!

Can I just remind people the contract at this stage is between you and the letting agent, not the referencing company, so go back to them and tell them to get their agent under control, or refund the money.

    - depending on the paperwork you took away from the letting agent. (you did take away some T&Cs didn't you?)
  • I had to use rent4sure and they were fine! After receiving and completing the online application to getting the keys and moving in it took a week...
