miele - washing machines and vacuums... overpriced ?

wondering if ppl who own miele products or any experience with them consider them overpriced ?

i have 2 vacuums by them, and given the price we paid (double that of the competition), they do seem rather overpriced to me.

same may go for the washing machines

other ppl's views ?

thanks

Don't know about the price, but we have a Miele washing machine. It was in our house when we bought it and it's really good. I was always a bit of a bargain hunter with white goods before, cheap and cheerful was the main criteria.
We have been in our house for about 5 1/2 years and never had a moments trouble from it and it was a few years old when we moved in. What makes it so good? It's got a good variety of programs, an effective fast wash that we use a lot, and (touch wood) a real work horse, does a lot and never goes wrong.
The day it dies we will only be replacing it with the same brand,

You get what you pay for ........ Yes they are expensive. If the benefits are worth it to you - pay the price (after checking price comparison sites and cashback sites of course ;) ) if it isn't worth the premium to you - buy another brand.

They are both expensive and excellent value.

I notice the current crop of Miele only offer 2 year gtee. This seems poor for such an expensive piece of kit. If they are producing well engineered solid kit, they should stand by it with a longer warranty otherwise im not sure they can justify the cost and more..

Edit..on further reading ,,an extra 8 years is available at no extra cost...

    Theres your answer then !!
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Just bought a Siemens washer with 5 year guarantee for just over £300.

The AEG it replaced did 16-17 years and was the cheapest model they did when we bought it. Current AEG was £350.

With those prices a Miele did look expensive.

I bought the cheapest Miele washing machine with a 10 year guarantee. Well worth it. I bought a Miele vacuum many years ago, it's a not very good vacuum cleaner & is in the garage & only used for cleaning the car. The Dyson lives indoors.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

We are on our second Miele washing machine; the first one lasted 18 years. The second was cheaper than the first. Would recommend without reservation.

Somewhat relevant, considering your other thread.

The problem with Miele is the cost of spares once the warranty runs out. Routine items like pumps, which can be £15 on other brands, may cost many times more.
