150k would struggle to buy in Clitheroe I think. There will be some nice areas in Burnley but you really need to speak with someone who has lived there for some time. Todmorden looks nice to me and when the railway starts going around the curve it will be nicely linked up. Good luck!

Plenty in clitheroe for 150 but it's not an easy commute as most direct route is over Pendle hill which isn't the best in the winter. To be fair if you fancy a village there are plenty of nice ones. Barrowford is quite nice and has plenty of nices shops bars etc
I wouldn't pick Todmorden as its in a valley and is always dark when I pass through
  • Direct trains from Halifax, Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge etc. Loads of nice places commutable either side to be honest.

Rawtenstall is quite lovely. No idea about Colne. Where abouts in Brum are you and would you be looking for a similar area?

Rawenstall is fine as are other places around it eg Ramsbottom edenfield rossendale Bacup etc.
Avoid Colne and Nelson / Briefield But barrowford fence barly simonstone are all good. whalley worth a look too along with Sabden if you are considering Clitheroe
  • Rawtenstall very nice - my friend lives there - you could probably get a reasonable 3 bedroomed for your budget. I visit her every couple of weeks and I've always liked that area. Nice compact town centre, plenty of places to eat, good for motorway links and also direct bus services into Manchester

I've just heard that Rawtenstall town is getting redeveloped. Does anyone know if this is true?
  • I moved to the Rawtenstall area recently. Its a great little town with excellent transport links, lovely local shops and every facility I need.

The countryside is beautiful and people friendly (if direct! lol)

I have heard that the bus station is going to be redeveloped soon and Marks and Spencer are going to be opening a shop in "Rawtie". The town has an "up and coming" feeling about it and I think £150k would buy a good 3 bed house now and probably a good time to buy before the Manchester "ripple" effect really begins to bite!

I understand the local schools have a good reputation too.
It takes less than 20 minutes to drive to Burnley and there is a great reliable bus service.

p.s. Rightmoove (sic) is your friend!!
