PCN parking fine

Hi,
Quick question, I went to see a client today and parked outside her house - I didnt see any signs to say it was an area where you need a ticket (although I assume there is one).
Went to see the client, came out and had a ticket on my car.
Knocked back on the clients door and she said she completely forgot as its new to the road.
2 questions:
1) Technically I wasnt doing anything wrong, I just did not have the ticket on my dash to show I had permission to park on the road (in my opinion). Can I appeal and is it likely to be overturned?
2) The lady I met gave me one of the passes I need - can I just fill it out in retrospect and say it must have fell off the dash when I closed my door? Appreciate its a lie but as I said I did have permission to park there.
I would never have parked there to go into the town center which is what I assume is the issue and can understand why the rules are there but I genuinely never noticed the sign (still didnt when looking for it briefly on the way out). I willpay the £35 so as not to allow to go to double but I think I should really get it back.
Is this likely?

This sounds more like a council issued PCN. Can you confirm OP please.
By the way we never condone lying in private parking matters as that puts motorists on the same bottom rung of the ladder as the opposition. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Its off the council.
In that case PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Here's your link:

Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate).
PePiPoo has an excellent success record in dealing with council tickets.
