Travel Up - online flight purchases

Having not booked online before am a bit wary! Has anyone used this company - with or without problems?

Are the same flights the same price on expedia or the airline's website?

If not, why would they be cheaper on Travel Up?

Flight we're looking at (with Uzbekistan airways) is not listed on Expedia and actual airline is about £50 more
  • Never used them however they are listed on cheapflights.co.uk as a bonafide agent with IATA licence 9127974-2

They appear to be specialists in long haul.

How much is £50 as a percentage addition to the Travel Up price?

Don't forget that booking direct with the airline you avoid Travel Up's additional terms and conditions.

Also check the price on http://matrix.itasoftware.com

Not an airline I would choose to use: I think that riding a camel would be faster, safer and a good deal more comfortable!

Oh dear, lets hope its not as bad as you suggest as we've now booked direct with the airline. Only one that goes direct, and cheaper than the ones with stops, so fingers crossed.

i actually booked with them last june for an upcoming flight to melbourne this april , very efficent all paperwork emailed to me within 24hrs , checked airlines website and confirmed on there and had emails from airline as well confirming
if you go on tripadvisor in the air travel forums theres the usual horror stories but i trust them

initially i went through skyscanner and found they were cheapest (well same as ebookers , opodo , travel trolley ) checked official airline website and it was £130 more so took my chances with travelup and all worked out ok so far ( although i am yet to go on flight ) i check back regular and all ok

They do seem to crop up as cheaper on the main comparison sites lately. I wonder how they do it. My only thought is they issue the tickets in a different country than the UK? I've used this trick before to buy BA flights from Expedia.ca saving a good margin on UK websites.

I suspect they are the kind of agent that are legit, and issue tickets without a problem. However its when things go wrong (airlines change schedules, cancel connections etc) that they can be a nightmare due to not actually employing many people....

I have Been thinking about booking with them too, as the flights are £100 cheaper each than booking directly... But scared as to why they are that much cheaper!! Review Centre seems to be on the better side than not, however the top few I read were people who has booked and not flown. Don't know what to do!
  • I booked tickets to Mexico last year via Travelup, I wanted a multi city trip LHR > Mexico City > Merida, then Merida > Mexico City, then Mexico City > LHR. Aeromexico's website didn't do multi city itineraries so went with Travel Up after reading some reviews of them and Lastminute who came up with a similar price. Lastminute's reviews were much worse. I did find a fair few bad reviews after booking and worried for a while that our tickets would get cancelled just before departure, but I kept an eye on them on Aeromexico's website and all was well.

I chased my e-tickets when they hadn't arrived the day after booking and they were emailed to me swiftly. I phoned them to correct a special meal request and though they answered the phone quickly they seemed keen not to spend too long speaking to me (I got the impression they were perhaps very busy), and didn't seem to understand the difference between vegan and lacto-vegetarian, so I ended up calling the airline direct to sort it. They did respond to a couple of email queries quickly.

All was fine with my flights, and I don't have any major complaint about them, but I do wonder how much help they would have been if there had been changes/delays/cancellations. Reading bad reviews did make me very nervous so I think perhaps in future I would try to book direct with the airline if at all possible, so avoid that worry.
