Time to get referring your friends to TCB again, especially if they are going to the cinema this weekend (and I'm sure a lot of people will be going to the cinema this weekend)

As a Plus member I can get £15 cashback for myself and my friend can earn 500 clubcard points when they earn £10

New members can claim up to £10 cashback for a cinema ticket :money:

    Win win!

Good afternoon Elite. Just popping on with a question...not shopping related

I started home educating dd2 just before Christmas and we've been doing really well...that was until this question on reverse percentages:

There are 6000 people at an ice hockey match.

The announcer says this is exactly 40% more people that the previous match.

Explain why the announcer is incorrect.

We've worked out the percentages and get that there would have bee 4286 people at the previous match. I don't get why the announcer is wrong! Any Elite maths geniuses out there?
  • So your secret is out, LFAB:wink::)

Still 2 (60 wash) bottles will keep up my stash number of washes in the rankings against Dotty. :D

I've got a superstore so that shall be my first stop then :)

4286 people at match 1 plus 40% would mean 6000.4 people at match 2

The announcer is wrong because he said exactly

    or another way.

If there are 6000 people at match 2 then divided by 1.4 would mean 4285.7 people at match 1. Again, the key is the use of the word "exactly"
