I just noticed that typo and changed it :o. Though is it the new category for our respective (male or female) partners who follow and support our Elite ways and benefit from the spoils of our efforts :).

  • Morning luvlies, 10 Ways just posted that there's a £2.99 Disney sticker album for 10p at Argos checkouts, appears to be national. They did say check clearance stock before you go in. Doesn't say whether this applies to the sticker album as they haven't posted an item number

Here's the link to clearance stock anyway

Reminds me of my childhood too and both my parents worked.

And my first flat when oldest was wee. Everything was so expensive. Been fortunate with work since then and clever at spends.

I think its lack of education in budgeting whether from folks or school or just looking it up.

I learned very quickly that making own soup and bread much cheaper than tinned and own curries cheaper than take out. Actually worked one night in Chinese takeout so free curry for the Mondays tea ! I had three jobs at one point

And the rest is gravy babe. I'm ready for anything. I had great MSE teachers :T

Strange isn't it when I was a child used to wonder what was for tea well if we were having any :rotfl: now they are wondering if they should get an iphone 6 or a samsung s5

Credit cards/loans should be banned or at least not allowed till you are mid 20s when hopefully you have got a bit of sense by then and don't go overboard :rotfl:
Everything seems to be a get it now pay later approach

An interesting read, just reminds me of childhood  and that seemed to be the norm then or it was where we lived and that was with all the men working as they were railway houses.

In those days people did not expect as much and I am in no way having a pop at you or the author. Plus I am sure if you go back another generation they lived with even less

Or if you take 3dogs dog as an example there would be many people from other countries would see that as living in luxury roof over your head/food/gas/electric/free healthcare the list goes on ;)
and don't take it the wrong way

Might make a few think how well we actually have it ;) when moaning about a late apg result etc or lost 25p on that item :rotfl: but probably not :(

Loved this post plus the one linked in by Emma Just different era's

I remember making do and mending, darning tights when they first came into fashion,:rotfl::rotfl: and getting lots of second hand stuff up to set up our first home. We are married 40 years and I still have stuff in use that is from our early days :T (nice memories)

I also think that it was the electrics that were the most expensive TV's were rented and we had to pay up things like washing machines

Off to make tablet for some friends plus catch up on housework then a spot of minor retail therapy with some APG's

    Enjoy your day

Thanks eeeeeeemap for both the Fortitude quickie review and your blog link.

Unsure if I want to invest any time in Fortitude. After Breaking Bad it's going to have to be pretty good TV.

I read the blog and the sequel. It made good reading I know that I have lots in my life to be thankful for. I often think that we have great survival skills.....laugh ye not.......in shopping, cooking, spending money wisely but no vehicle to convey them:o if we could harness our collective knowledge, we could really make a difference to how people live. The foodbanks answer an immediate problem but so many people are missing the basic life skills. I know what can be made with an onion and a carrot but lots of people don't:o a homemade soup can be sooooooo cheap and nutritious but it needs someone with a pan, some cutlery, a stove, some money on the meter and a little bit of knowledge to make it.

I was at a meeting on Friday attended by the local police who reported that shoplifting is going through the roof . They quoted a young woman who had stolen 4 ready meals from A for her 4 children. Nothing for herself. They supported her to get a food parcel.:o
