Phone bought outright (from O2) - is it 'unlocked'?

I bought a phone (Nokia Lumia 630) outright, but I bought it from the O2 shop.

Does this mean that it's unlocked, or is it locked to the O2 network?

It will be locked to O2.

Damn, OK, thanks - thought that if I'd bought it outright, even though it's on an O2 contract, that it'd be mine to decide.

Just request an unlock, can be done on the O2 website.
