Hi weeg, thanks for the helpful info re reimbursements. Can I ask how you record these different types of reimbursements in your monthly accounts, please?

And now I want a burrito! I don't know of any company that MSs a decent burrito place near me.

Strangely enough Amber Arch had one at the mega shopping centre.

As I say, that's my take on it. Many people here agree, some are more aggressive in their tax reduction strategies and don't believe anything that has a fee attached should be counted as taxable. Do some reading around and make up your own mind.

Yup, I'm sure I could trim back my tax bill a little but as far as I am concerned the tax man can come and look at my books any time they want and I can sleep at night knowing I'm tax compliant.

Having half the wife's family work at HMRC helps too :D

My spreadsheet has the following column headings:
    Company
    Client
    fee
    paid expenses
    actual expenses
    pages printed
    printing cost
    miles
    mileage
    profit
    date

And the 'profit' column equation is: Fee+ paid expenses - actual expenses - printing cost - mileage.
In my burrito example above I would include the food cost in both expense columns if I was getting a fee, but only in the paid expenses column if I wasn't. But I'm sure there are people with better ways of doing it than that.

i got rang up about RA but I decided not to do it as it was too far away and the fee was so miminal.

I had one today from Storecheckers whose reports are really detailed for the fee - can I go to a cinema which is around 120 mile round trip with them paying the mileage? - really are they having a laugh. Need to jack their fees and then their jobs might shift.

Did I really see a charity shop job around today where part of the scenario was to ask for a discount!? Now I would lower myself to quite a few things whilst doing MS jobs, but asking for a discount at a charity shop.........

MF do a great burrito shop. Have one lined up for Saturday and with a reasonable spend amount too.

And can you return the item too....to my shame I have done one of these (it was literally on my door step is my excuse) and to counteract the huge embarrassment and slight uncomfortable feeling I felt mystery shopping volunteers I took in a nice donation. I also used creative license to phrase the questions in such s way that I didn't feel like a right tool. Thankfully it all went well as I would have felt bad reporting negatively on a charity shop.

Re the charity shop....you could find an item for £4.95 and say you've only got £4.50 on you. Ask if you could have it for that?

I would say that something along those lines would be fine, it doesn't give specifics in the brief.
