anyone gone to do a job before and it doesn't belong to the company you are meant to check on even though you have gone to the right location but it has changed ownership.

    Bit of a nightmare.

also if you select a job on MF alot of the others for the same company seem to disappear. In certain cases are you only allowed to do 1 visit

it seems alot of MS pick up jobs on MF and then cannot fulfill them so I seem to pick up the rejects:rotfl::rotfl:

I could only take 1 job recently. But once I'd submitted the report, a couple of shops in the chain re-appeared. Works well sometimes when that happens. Other times it would have worked well to do them both in the same trip out but there is no point doing the second job as a stand alone.

Yep - just happened this week on the drinks audit. Chain of upmarket convenience stores have 'morphed' themselves into another supermarket chain. When asked when the buyout happened was advised it happened in November 2014. I take the photgraph and then expect to be paid as I have been given incorrect data. Same as when you get given a 'shut down' shop to do.

Re MF - you often can only do one shop in the chain and ususally they have some form of restriction on how many days between shops.

    Dear Market Farce

Please stop sending me surveys to fill in on behalf of your clients, which you request that I fill in, on the off chance of being selected for the prize of an Amazon Voucher. Please get 'real' and pay for the surveys as I am sure you are paid by the end client, like reputable survey companys do...

    End of rant.

I seem to have been taken off the mailing list after I relied saying they paid me for my opinions so why should I give them for free.

Had precisely this issue with GfK, and their supermarket audit client. Sent me to five of the places, off my patch, that had changed brand two months earlier. (nb. this generally isn't about a change of ownership - as these stores are franchised). Tried to fob me off with 50% fee and I stood my ground because (a) it says nothing about halving the fee in the job notes, and (b) the fault lay between them and the client, and I certainly wasn't going to pay for that.

Had to really dig my heels in, and speak to a director about it, but I got what I was after. Yet another example of a company trying to make a poorly paid contractor pay for its (or its client's) incompetence.

Funnily enough I could not work out why some of the GFK supermarkets had disappeared until I did the drinks audit and saw they had changed hands and now a diffferent chain.
  • Signed up for Gyp today but reading some of the reviews about them they can be difficult unless you always put good scores.

Was wondering which company you guys would recommend working for?

Any good or bad experiences and ones to avoid?

    Many thanks guys

    Hi. Welcome to the forum.

I no longer work for Gyp but this is primarily because I now mostly do video work which pays significantly more.

Gyp was one of the first companies that accepted me as a mystery shopper and, through them, I developed skills which have allowed me to progress to higher-paid jobs.

Gyp can be a pain. They are quick to chide and slow to pay, and pay is at the lower-end of acceptability.

They are however, a good place to start if you read the brief carefully and follow the instructions to the letter.

My advice would be to sign-up, engage, and try to learn the field-researcher skills which will allow you to build your confidence and skill-sets.

When you have done that, dump them and move on.

    Best wishes

    Terri

Has anyone used the ESA app? I was told to use it for a visit and found it didn't save what I had done, but have now been told it is in constant use by other shoppers so it must be my fault. Just wondered if anyone else had used it at all and had problems.

I used to work in IT training and support, so don't usually struggle with new technology!
