GR is hopeless as unless you are able to log on the second you get the message forget it. I haven't time.

Shock horror, I logged into GR's site a full 2 hours after the email was sent today and managed to get the 5 min down the road Germans.

I did one last year and ended up having to answer some really random question from the client some weeks later after the report was submitted. Wouldn't have minded but the question was not in the brief or asked to look out for. Got the impression they are an outfit who just raise questions for the sake of it. Not a job I would rush to do again.

I question whether there is an obligation to answer these, tbh, if not in the brief. Wonder if they'd try and claw back the fee if you did refuse?

I did that one yesterday - easy to do, but arranging to get all the products in one photo in the way that they required was slightly tricky.

Don't disagree - they came back round with the new question around a month after the visit.

I only do this as part time job so typically do 30/40 tasks a month so asking me a month after the visit some minor detail is somewhat picky. If it's MF you just give them what they want and move on.

I cant see many prople wanting to do these gap jobs if they dont pay premiums like they used to. I might sound like a precios supermodel but I wont get put of bed to do a fast food outlet for less than £20.

Well, I'm as close as I've ever been to closing the doors and shutting up shop.

Way too many companies in this industry taking the !!!! about payments and one of my favourite none-ms clients has just offered me a FT job.

Versus spending a few half days a month chasing payments from cowboys and established companies alike. It's looking like a no-brainer.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

I do wonder what the future for MS work is?. There seems to be alot of retailers moving over to the invite on receipt to fill in an on line survey and various apps such as Streetbees emerging. Fees remain static and costs creep up making it not viable to do the work.
Would not blame you for taking the FT role, you always carry on doing MS work on the side on a part time basis.

To be honest, the MS has always played second fiddle to the Merchandising with me. Yeah, shopping got me through a rough time when the recession was at its worst, but I don't owe it anything.

I can't see report only shopping ever getting better except for stuff like financial compliance, which generally pays better. There'll always be a place for video in the industries that deal in high value items, but I can't see anything ever paying significantly more.

I'd probably stop shopping and Tactical Merchandising altogether, sell the camera, and keep my other none-related interests as part time.
