Pawning Computer

You're going to throw good money after bad if you don't start thinking more sensibly.
There are older cars that will be just as cheap on insurance - an older Fiesta 1.0, Micra etc.
The MPG may be slightly higher with an older car than with the VW... BUT the car will be much cheaper to buy and will depreciate less so it will actually cost less in the long run.
I don't mean to be unkind but your posts are just sounding so naive - I think you have been seduced by the thought of a shiny new car and are now trying to come up with the justification.
If your credit file really is so bad, why get more debt? Also, what makes you think that you'll get main dealer credit? As someone else has said, the salesman will not be making the decision.
As to pawning your PC - something that cost £3,500 well over 2 years ago may not even fetch a tenth of that now. Technology moves fast and older specs quickly become undesirable.
You need to start making some better decisions on spending - not just jumping in and hoping for the best.
If you are in debt by so much that you need to pawn something, what if something else needs replacing in the near future? Or you lose your job or get ill?
Just saying .0 -
I decided to have a look at autos which are cheap on autotrader. The problem with most small cars is that the autos dont sell in big numbers but theres loads of these available

Bit smaller than an up obviously but dirt cheap to buy and fuel economy cant be as bad a an avensis.0 -

I would not fancy being in an accident in one of those! they are made of paper and tiny.
When I go past them they look like a joke of a car.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
I find it difficult to believe that you know so little about cars that you bought an Avensis. When what you could actually afford was only a Smartcar.
Do you not know anyone who could give advice on the subject?.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
£1100 deposit, More than enough to get a cheap to run and reliable car.
Your £3.5 computer is probably worth a few hundred to the right buyer. But probably less than £100 to a pawn shop.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Nonsense.

My husband is a mechanic and we regularly drive smart cars as his garage has a few as courtesy cars. They are very safe, VERY economical and great fun to drive!0 -

Completely off topic - but follow the autotrader link above, enlarge pics 2 and 6 and look closely at the door panels! (I don't think those photos were taken on a cold January day!)0 -

Why not inform yourself before making sweeping statements.
I've owned three over the years and they are relatively cheap to run and have a 4* NCAP rating. They are also quite roomy - Sebastien Chabal (6' 3" and 18 stone ex Sale rugby player) used to drive one whilst he played in the UK.0 -
A pawn shop will only give you around half what they think they can sell it for so don't think you will get the £1100 you are looking for.
Trade the Avensis in and get a second hand car you don't need a brand new car think of it as just more money down the drain.0 -
Sorry about all the people being rude. The Smart car looks like a good idea. I can see a few Automatic Nissan Micras around where I live, some in the newer style that isn't too ugly tooChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0
