Unless you're thinking of getting the car in someone else's name (which is a bad idea anyway), what makes you think you're going to be able to get a VW Up on finance if your "credit score is in the crapper"?

In addition to that, a 2.5 year old computer is not going to be worth much, certainly not £1,100, and I would be very surprised if you got anything decent of a pawnbroker as the value will keep decreasing every day. I doubt they would lend on something like a computer.

If your really struggling financially then buying a brand new car is not particularly sensible. If you are looking new then you do realise that the Skoda Citigo and the Seat Mii are the same car just cheaper?

Theres second hand Up 2012 plate going for £5000 very similar to citigos of the same age, which suggests that the skodas are actually a better buy as they loose less.
The Hyundai i10 and the Kia picanto are also similar cars which will be cheaper and are likely to be more reliable.

There are a lot of cheaper cars that will give you better performance and economy than a 2.0 2004 avensis. Especially if your happy to go with a small city car.

If you post up on the motoring section your budget im sure people will be able to find something suitable.

They said it shouldn't be a problem with my deposit.

But the sales guys aren't the ones making the yes or no decision on the finance. If they do offer you finance, with a bad credit score, it will likely be at a higher APR that what you see advertised on the website.

I'm only licenced to drive automatics, and the Citigo and Mii are only manual. :( I looked at those first.

I think you will find they do the exact same engine and gearbox as the up. But the price difference isnt very much as autos are expensive for a city car more than £10k list.

Whats the actual deal they have offered you as in the price, monthly repayment, APR and as I assume its going to be PCP the GFV.

Sorry but as others have said, PCs devalue quickly.

I would stick to a cheaper car. Can you get finance on a second hand car?

I have a 2001 small automatic (same size as VW fox/up!), 1.4 engine. Cost £1500

Sounds like the Avensis is already on finance.
Have you worked out how much it is worth balanced against how much you owe on it?

If it isn't on finance, why not just sell it and buy a small car with the money?

This sort of spend to save idea always strikes me as madness.
