I looked at BeyondPod but its an ap and I have not got a smartphone or smart ipod - only one of the old 3rd generation square ones.0

Thanks Big Graeme - I have done this but it only subscribes you to File on 4's and downloads the latest programme and then all the forthcoming ones. Clicking on Download 18MB (right click & "save target as / link as")on the previous programmes just saves to the computer and not to iTunes.
Yup, that's how iTunes works, in iTunes, click on the podcast name on the left hand side then you'll see the full list, underneath the current episode you'll see all the old ones listed, next to each is a little cloud click on that and it will download that episode. You don't need any right clicks and no save as.0 -

I was making the mistake of trying to do it in the BBCPodcast page where you originally subscribe to the main programme. Instead you do it from your iTunes Podcast page but you have to have subscribed first.
