Just read my meter again, this time managing to wipe the mud off the red numbers.

At 15:55 on 23/01, meter read is 903939
At 8-something in the morning on 22/01, according to the photo I took, the meter read was 903902 OR 903932 OR 903982. For obvious reasons, I'm going to assume it's one of the first two.

Usage since the last read has been:

-Used toilet about 4/5 times (flush is 14 seconds )
    -Filled one washing up bowl
-Filled standard 1.7L kettle to approx 1/3rd capacity
    -Filled one large water bowl
    -Brushed teeth and washed face

Could that amount to 7 or 37 litres of water usage?

Will ask SWW if their meter reader recorded the red numbers on 15/12. It doesn't show on my bill or online account as far as I can see but may be on their notes. While I'm doing that I'll see if they'll tell me what their last read prior to 15/12 was. Fingers crossed :)

My washing up bowl is 11 litres. Average toilet flush is 9 litres.

They do not record the red numbers. They can't even be bothered to put the flip up dial cover back down and reseat the foam frost protector.

Nope, which is disappointing. I've decided to make a note of my reading regularly, before and after the meter replacement, just in case anything goes wrong. That way, I can have a record of my regular usage.

There was no foam when I read the meter  There's an inspector coming this week to show me where my external stopcock is because SWW have no record of where mine is, nor what type of stopcock I have (old brass tap or new white box with blue lever) -- oh, and they couldn't confirm whether I have my own stopcock or if I share mine with my neighbours'. (Asked that because I plan to turn the water supply off to check for leaks / whether the meter's fitted to the right pipe.) Not very impressed with them at the moment... :(
