Hello All ,

I'm just at the start of my journey to be free ( finally ) of an abusive , violent , bullying man of 14 years .

Along the way I lost all of my friends / social life and confidence .

I started a thread on another board and wondered if you could maybe post your comments , thoughts & experiences on it . ( I know some of you have and thanks again )

Like I said I'm very much alone , but I know I'm not the only one who's gone through this.

Thank you .

  • Good luck Mandi. I've been in a very controlling relationship and I know how difficult and draining it can be, so to be on an abusive relationship must be so much harder. I'm sorry that I cannot give you any advice, but I'm now in a very happy marriage so just want to let you know that there is someone for everyone and I truly hope that you find happiness in the future x

    Hello mandi.

You are one of my favourite posters.

    Because of your humanity.
  • Hi Mandi, just take a look through your last thread, and seems you have really been through the mill with your ex. What a horrible man.

So I just wanted to wish you all the best for the future. You will find happiness out there, and now, being away from the ex, you can find peace in your life which I bet has been lacking for a long time.

    Hugs x

I can give you my support Mandi.
It is 35 years since I got away.
It has affected me I cannot say otherwise.I was very wary of men for a few years. It was working with the nicest man ever that changed my opinion of men.He never knew he was changing my opinion but his reliable niceness gradually did it.
I am very happily married now.
I would like to tell you that I saw the slug a few years ago and I wasnt frightened I was struck at how sad and pathetic he was,and alone.
That will be you one day,you will walk past in the street and feel nothing.

Same here - Mandi, you are most definately not alone in this. For my own part, I had to keep reminding myself for a while after I left that I *was* happier and better off alone than with a partner who controlled and abused me. You may or may not want to get back in touch with old friends but either way you will make new ones
