Vodafone have missold me a contract
I recently agreed a new contract with Vodafone that included a 20% line rental discount thanks to an employee discount scheme that Vodafone has with my employer.
I would not have agreed the contract without this discount as I knew I could otherwise do better elsewhere.
At the time I was told that the discount would automatically be applied (I had it on my previous contract with Vodafone) and there was nothing more I needed to do.
The following week I checked my new contract online and couldn't see that the discount had been applied.
I therefore rang them up to query it but was told again that the discount had been applied even if it wasn't showing online, and it would probably only appear at the end of the month.
I have now seen after a month and a half that the discount has not been applied despite twice being assured that it had.
However Vodafone are refusing to add it as their terms say that you need to apply for it within 30 days.
Clearly with the information I was given, I didn't have a chance to do that.
They are also refusing to apply a credit for the difference that the 20% discount would come to over the course of the two-year contract (about £180).
I feel their stance is outrageous and if I have to go to the Ombudsman I will.
But does anyone have any recommendations as I have effectively been sold a contract under false pretences, and one that I wouldn't have taken out otherwise?

Before you go anywhere check your employers intranet or notice boards about this, our internal web page clearly states that it has to be applied for in the first 30 days, and renewed at if you upgrade.
I fear the problem is down to you not reading the T&C of the offer and following them, they clearly state it has to be applied for in the first 30 days and you have to renew it on renewal or upgrade.
However if you have any evidence that you showed the people in store your proof of eligibility that may help. Again refer to your HR/benefit department where you got details of the offer from they should have given you the correct procedure to follow.0 -
Thanks all for your feedback. It's true that the terms and conditions say that you need to apply within 30 days and it's now past that. But how am I to know that if I'm not sent the Ts and Cs or directed to them?
And when I phoned up to check I was told I didn't have to reapply as the discount had been applied to my contract already.0 -
Probably best to get a transcript of the phone calls. Thanks all for your feedback. It's true that the terms and conditions say that you need to apply within 30 days and it's now past that. But how am I to know that if I'm not sent the Ts and Cs or directed to them?

Similar thing here. But not the employee discount just one i haggled down. £22 plan down to £14. They said the bill will say £22 but willbe discounted each month.
Nope it wasnt. And when i checked the online billing the first month should have had a £12 credit applied and i didnt get that either.
Seems to be an issue with 3 phones on one account. They apply a credit on one of the phones it shows that on the itemised statement for each number. But didnt get applied to the total bill.
Have to keep an extra special eye on the bill every month now. Normally i just get the your bill is ready email its ££. Which is the basic price and i ignore it.
Thought it odd the email said the same price even though an upgrade was cheaper than the old tariff.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Hi all
Vodafone have come back and are going to make an 'exception'. They can't backdate the discount but will apply it from now on.
Under the circumstances that seems reasonable, so I'll get the discount for 22 months out of 24.
Thanks for your advice.0 -

I would not have been happy with that. You agreed a price for 12/24 months and thats the price you should pay. They should have been able to put a credit onto the account.
I have had several credits. Delivery charge refunded due to them not delivering when they promised. And when the battery on my S4 started to swell they credited my account to purchase a new one because they had run out.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
