Hi there.
It's too late and Im too flabbergasted to deal with it now but we recently cancelled 2 BT broadband business accounts and paid off the balances after moving.
Owed 238.52 and 133.06
Doing my VAT return today......
They've charged
1,238.52 and 1,133.06
AND took another
133.06
Believe me, I honestly though we have a crap xmas but this explains alot.
I hate BT. I will never use them again.
Any tips on claiming this back as obviously if the records state the original amounts what leg do we have to stay on?

How realistic are those £1000+ charges. First thing to do is check if they have made a mistake.0

Aye but its late and Im not in the office so I dont have old account numbers to hand etc but the amounts were £1000 less than I was billed.
It's a lot of money.
Im annoyed.
Was wondering if it happened to anyone else.
Im sorry if I annoyed you with this. Was just looking for advice when I ring them in case I get passed through million different departments again.
Thanks for your helpAre you a Thrifty Beatnik?0 -
There does seem to be an awful lot of BT overcharging going on of late. I've just had to fight tooth and nail to get back the £90 they over-charged my parents who were completely oblivious to it and would have just accepted it had I not checked their bill. It does make you wonder.0

Maybe the balances you refer to were useage bills and the bigger amounts are in respect of cancellation/early termination fees.
Whatever the reason you need to get BT to itemise these charges and dispute any you disagree with.0 -
How was the money collected ?
Direct debit ?
was it a fixed amount that they upped without warning ?I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
You have no consumer protections - But is sounds as though your services had minimum terms and the final amounts reflect the closure amounts due and notice period agreed0
