Flat Not Warm with all Radiators On

Hi

This winter I've noticed that my flat is not warm even with all 4 radiators on full. I don't know if this is my imagination, or not, though it's odd as there have been colder winters in past.

There is heat coming out of all the radiators, but I was wondering could something be causing them to run inefficiently?

Thanks

Have you turned up the water temperature on the boiler - usually a dial marked(possibly) 1 to 6
  • Good idea Cardew, I will check it out!

I don't know if this is my imagination, or not,

If your imagination is the same as my wife's 21 deg C isn't hot enough.

At present in my lounge it is 24 deg C.

No wonder I am using 100 kWh of gas a day.

Are the rads hot at the top and cold at the bottom? Are they just too hot to touch for more than a few seconds? Is there a draught? Are you an upstairs flat?

    So many questions, sorry!

  • Thanks warehouse. I will check if the bottom part of the radiator is cold. They are certainly never 'too hot to touch.' Yes, upstairs flat, which is normally good as heat rises from lower flats, but I'm not very high up so the benefit will be minimal.

What temperature ??? is not hot enough .
  • Another vote for turning the boiler temperature up, particularly as you say the rads are never that hot.

I agree, your boiler temp is not hot enough.

    Bled the rads?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Thanks to all the replies - it looks like the boiler was set too low for this time of year. It was at 47 degrees, and I've turned it up to 60.

    Cheers
