Activating a TalkTalk SIM

I received a SIM yesterday from TT - to be added to my new (starting Friday) Broadband account
However - I need to activate it - but on fitting the SIM to the new (unlocked) phone - it is not even recognised

From what I remember from past SIM fittings - it at least comes up with an error message or something saying "please activate"
Any advice ?

Does it say not recognised or is it just a blank screen ?
It's not just about the money

Ok have you got another sim card lying about that you could try to see if the phone recognises a sim ?

Ok that's good it means you will be able to tell if it's a problem with the phone or with the sim.

But surely - even a PAYG SIM would display something on the screen ?
    This is a contract SIM
I have asked TT to activate it - and I think that they must have done - since it does now appear on my online account.
So this evening - we will try again - but I don't hold out much hope.

I would have thought something would display if it's unlocked which is why I suggested trying another sim to see what happens.

I've never used TalkTalk but I remember some mention about having to install a sim before activating it otherwise it leads to problems ???
If the phone is not seeing the sim it may have problems because it's now been activated ... cross that bridge etc etc
