Good morning everyone :hello:
It's very cold here today but no snow at least. I have wrapped up warm as we can't afford the heating to come on more than twice a day for an hour or two. I will do some cooking once the shopping arrives so at least the kitchen will be warm. I have the grandchildren coming for tea today as their mum is working so will make some fairy cakes for their pudding.
Meg is settling well, not widdling as much but gets very upset if we ask her to go in her crate at bedtime. I am considering buying her a high sided bed instead to see if that is better for her but I am nervous about her chewing up my furniture. I'm still paying for my corner suite and would be upset if it was destroyed. Ah well, I can't do anything until we get paid at the end of the month.
DD14 is home today as she didn't feel well this morning. She doesn't sleep well and gets very tired and run down. She needs iron tablets but keeps 'forgetting' to take them. I know they have unpleasant side effects so I sympathise but I've tried buying her it in liquid form and she won't take that either.
I am making a curry for me and hubby and the kids are having chicken dippers and chips so a lovely easy day for me. I will be tidying up the living room as well as the kitchen too. I will also be putting some washing on as it's starting to creep out of the basket and along the floor!
Hope everyone has a great day whatever they are up to, take care xx0 -
Good Morning all from north Kent .chilly and damp here and no sign of the expected snow thank goodness. I am not a lover of snow, as it ties me to the house too much. I use a stick to walk with, and see no point in going out and falling in a heap, via a patch of ice or snow.So when the white stuff comes down, pretty as it is I stay indoors

The hospitals are full enough without me taking up space
I am no a weeble I do not bounce very well .
Yesterday I made a large pot of veggie curry which I made from stuff in the freezer (mushrooms, chopped tomato, onion, cut green beans) and three sad looking sweet potato's,I also chucked some lazy garlic and some of my lentil mountain in for good measure and a tin of potatoes I had in the cupboard.Made enough for five good sized portions which were boxed up and put in the freezer
A case of recycling some of my foodstuff into easily ready-meals
Today I shall dig out some diced beef and veg and make a large casserole in the slow cooker. This too will be portioned up for the freezer I am in the batch cooking mode at the moment
Pub quiz last night ,we didn't win but came a healthy 4th and had a great evening.
Just looking out of my window and it looks pretty dreich out there, so I'm not going to set out anywhere today I think.
Roll on the spring my favourite time of the year when the grey weather is gone and the bulbs start pushing their way up. Although I do have several that have mistakenly though it was spring already
:):)
Wolf Hall tonight on t.v. I will record it on my TiVo box to watch in one go once the series has finished.I have both of her books, but found them pretty hard going to get into
:)
Right time for a quick cuppa, hope everyone has a good day whatever they are doing
Cheers chums keep warm if possible

P.S. Still awaiting my letter re my last op. fingers crossed it comes soon0 -
First thing I did was look out of the window but we have no snow yet!
Need to pick up more medication for the cat plus a few things at the shops but otherwise the day is mine. DD returned my car last night so might take a trip out to Ald* for a few bits.
I'll also be watching Wolf Hall tonight. Found the first book quite hard going but the second one was easier to read.
Enjoy your day everyone and watch out for that snow.0 -
We were forecast snow, but its been raining, no snow in sight. Mind you its still pretty chilly.
OH has gone curling on a carpet with U3A so I have an hour or so to myself. I am so tired I am going to sit and read, if I fall asleep so be it.
Liver and sausage for tonight, liver cooked already just have to cook the sausages and heat up the liver in its gravy. Spuds carrots and cabbage. I did fruit in jelly yesterday so thats a couple of nights desserts taken care of.0 -
Morning all.
Slept like a log last night and I am feeling the benefits of it this morning.
The house is in the process of being blitzed. I doubt if i'll do much tomorrow as I have the dentist in the morning and theres a possibility I am going to need a tooth removed.
Tru as much as I love my solitude, hubby's next job (in a week or two) will be 300 miles away from home and he is taking 'Youngest' with him. I'm not going to see a soul (apart from Tuesdays when I see Mom in the care home and my daughter on Thursdays when she brings my Grandson). I am wondering how I'm going to cope with my own company all week. Ive only slept in the house by myself for the odd night or two this will be a challenge.
Its wet and miserable but no snow or ice thankfully. Its pretty damned cold though. If I get any colder i'll have to wear hubbys big thick fleece dressing gown to keep me warm.
Baking a quiche later on. I haven't made one for ages but just fancied making one (to keep my hand in so to speak).
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning everybody,
Its a lot warmer here all the ice has melted. We did have some fresh snow last night, looked very pretty but all gone this morning so the fields are very soggy again. If I walk down another path to access the fields from the other direction, about 4 fields there had longer coarser grass and havent been touched for 2 years.I had a better chance of one very large dog staying a bit cleaner- not any more, someones's been muck spreading! Luckily I hadnt let her off the lead so I hurried her along and we met 2 friends so she had a good run and she's curled up asleep now
Today is what I call my ' day off ' no visiting grandchildren so I can tidy up the toys till tomorrow :rotfl:Not decided on tea yet but I am out for lunch today so I won't need much tonight ,might just do fish & chips for the men. We've been having broc & stilton soup for our lunches using up Xmas cheese that I froze, very nice too, even DS1 likes it and he's not really a soup fan.
Kondoed DS cupboard which was a tangled mess-he couldnt believe that there was space left & I keep looking round to see what I can do next :rotfl:
Anyway better go and wash my hair, after a walk in the sleet and then sluicing the dog outside I look unfit to be seen.Have a good day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning Everyone
I never made it on yesterday at all!
Had to be up and out early yesterday to go to the sewing group.
Rushed about doing housey stuff when i got home.
DH and I ended up having a wee nap after out tea last night.
We had snow over the weekend which has been refrozen several times and the road never see's a gritter so i was wary driving on it yesterday.
The bin men were supposed to come yesterday but if there is a frozen puddle they don't appear. I'm annoyed as i have been doing a lot of decluttering so the bin is full!!!!!
Anyway i hope everyone has a warm and safe day
regards:j0 -

Hello all,
A really horrible wet day here. We were forcast snow, but thankfully that didn't appear, but it is very cold.
Have done a small wash, been to see DD, just had a cupof soup and a ham sandwich.
Yesterday I braised 2 large slices of steak in the slow cooker. We had one slice between us last night with green beens, broccoli and creamed potato, and tonight will have the other slice with dumplings, creamed potato and veg. Not sure what yet will look in freezer.
Himself will be having his afternoon siesta later, and needless to say the cat is already having hers, but there again that's nothing different.
TTFTM, hope you are OK, I miss your posts.
Take care all

Afternoon all from a wintry West Yorkshire. It has been snowing on and off for about the last 12 hours. Luckily it is fairly wet now so it is only settling where there is already snow. Currently tucking into hm soup whilst on my lunch break.
Had a lovely journey to work. Playing in the snow with my DS whilst slowly walking here.
Have friends coming over Sunday afternoon so trying to decide what to cook for them. Currently thinking of doing a bolognese in the slow cooker.
Hope everybody has a good day.GC: Feb (16th Jan - 15th Feb) £46.25 / £50
