Hi, wondering if anyone knew a suitable site for me. Here goes.
Im looking to store around 30GB of files, and I want them storing in the same folders as is on my PC. Ive had a look at a few options out there like dropbox but it seems to be just split everything and store photos in one and documents in another etc.
I want to store for example my holiday photos and videos from 2013 in one folder tather than look through the whole thing if you see what I mean.
Is there any provider out there who does this, and of course cheap!

Old Faithful we roam the range together,
Old Faithful in any kind of weather,
When the round up days are over,
And the Boulevard’s white with clover,
For you old faithful pal of mine.

You can store what you want in any folder in DropBox. It has template folders but you can create your own easily enough or just dump everything in the template folders.0

You can create a folder set up in Dropbox exactly like on your computer. My Dropbox appears on my computer just like any other folder. I hardly use it via a web browser.

Put all of your folders into one single folder, zip it up using winzip and upload to dropbox. Problem solved and it'll be much quicker.0

Dropbox only allows you to share files within your Dropbox folder.
If you want to share stuff outside the Dropbox you could actually put it in the Dropbox but use symbolic links to make it look like it's somewhere else.
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/16226/complete-guide-to-symbolic-links-symlinks-on-windows-or-linux/
It takes a bit of setting up but if you follow the guide carefully it works.
Spideroak lets you share any folder anywhere within your existing structure, but the free plan is limited to 2Gb. If you're prepared to pay it should do what you want for $100/year.
Or if you want free, you could use something like FreeFileSync to keep your files in their original location but mirror (copy) them automatically into another, shared folder.0 -
I would really recommend google drive. I've got 100gb, and it costs me about £1.50 a month. It will auto back up your photos etc. with Google+ auto backup.0

Hi Freebyman,
Dropbox, Google Drive or Box will easily meet your needs. You organise your own folders and do not need to use any template folders if you don't want to.
Take a look at this article for a comparison of the various services.0 -
drop box is or was the market leader as such it is overpriced and your options for hanging onto your extra gigabytes - market it by making your mates get it and they'll extend it - then they'll claw it back... or pay a premium you'll still get much more for elsewhere
point is they're not a market leader any more, several other services offering 5 -10 times the storage and the same functionality - so stay away from drop box unless you have a big wallet
my advice - things like google drive - you can get the app and it works just as dropbox would - trouble with drop box is it started out unique and maybe then it justified the pricetag but now there's a tonne of other credible competition - and they're still swanning it like apple0 -
I trialled a few of the free ones last year.
I use Google for mail and on my tablet, but find it insinuates itself into your pc when you install Drive or Chrome, so avoid it on my main machines.
It puts multiple updaters into task scheduler, and seems to spread itself everywhere.
So Google Drive was out.
The free Dropbox was good for upload/download, but only a measly 2GB.
Box gives you 10 GB, but I found that it sometimes took exception to a file and renamed it, so duplicating it, it would then be duplicated across all the machines.
Upload could be slow and file syncing was slow.
Eventually we settled on Copy this gives you 15GB for free, although by using a referral you can up this to 20GB.
Upload/download speeds were acceptable on my slowish adsl, but it was the fastest at syncing between machines.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
I trialled CrashPlan and have started using them. Easy to set up and cheap and $5.99 a month for unlimited storage. Takes a while to back up all your data as its done it bit by bit but not a big issue for me. Started with most important stuff and working my way through my other files/folders.
Also its stored as on your computer so you don't need to do anything except choose the folders and they are backed up.0
