Dental Implants...Cheap???

As a matter of interest my problem is a gum boil. An x-ray shows a small abscess. It seems root canal treatment was done before & is unlikely to work a second time. I know about 11 years ago I had an operation in hospital that could have been related but I seem to remember it being to the next tooth but could be wrong.
I was given these options. Have my tooth out & have a tooth on a 'denture' or plate. Having a bridge, around £1000-00. Seeing a specialist at around £600-00 with no guarantee of anything being done or a refer to hospital but they probably would not be interested. Whilst looking on the net at these options I came across Implants & the rest you know about. Any advice. In the meantime I have a gumboil that is not getting better. I try to look after my teeth & never miss a dentist appointment & have most of my own teeth with a couple of caps.
Just to repeat had it been a back tooth I would have had it out, but it is one of the main front teeth & I don't fancy a denture for one tooth.
You said on your initial posts that you'd discussed implants with your dentist. Did you go back after finding out about them on the internet?
I'm wondering why he didn't bring up that option when discussing the other options?
But yes - if you have a gumboil - you need to do <something>. It won't go away by itself, and the longer it's there, the more damage may potentially be done to the bone, making an implant (if you choose that option) that much harder. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

An implantologist will not want to place an implant in an infected area.
So you will have to budget for wearing a denture or adhesive bridge whilst the area heals and infection resolves ie for a few months, if an implant is the way ahead.0 -

I think you are right, as the hospital seems to be a no go because of the time scale. What is an adhesive bridge?Nice to save.0 -

Have you a link, we can't find it?

I know it's probably a piece of string question, but how long on average does it take to pull a top front tooth out? Just the pulling out part after the anaesthetic.Nice to save.0

Anything from two seconds upwards. Abcessed teeth are normally very easy to remove but as you said it's a piece of string question.0

Using the piece of string can be quite quick! How to find a dentist.
