Santander Select

My " select " letter arrived today . I will give them a call when I can face it and get one of these nifty gold cards. I don't make the criteria though. Not far away on 2 of the requirements , but not there. The only possibility is the 5k a month is really an average of 60k a year, because that I have done . All this got me thinking about human nature , strange how something that offers no benefit can be seen as desirable , just because you have to be invited in. If I am classed as a " select " customer ,god help everybody else. Sort of don't want to be in a club that will have me ,as that club cant be worth being in.0

Contactless and free use of Santander ATMs abroad too.
I know the standard account gives free use in Spain but given that I avoid the place wouldn't be much use...
Does the 75k need to be in for any length of time?£750 daily cash withdrawal limit. And for some, the penis-enhancing my-card-has-a-better-colour-than-yours factor. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Very close. You need to meet one of the following conditions:
- Pay £5k per statement month into a 123 current account, from a non-Santander account.
- Have at least £75K in one or more Santander UK current, savings or investment accounts.
- Have a property worth at least £500K with a Santander UK mortgage.
That may be what they say, but I don't qualify on any of these grounds, and I have been select for a while. I don't feel special.0 -
With Select you need to meet one or more of the three criteria. So £5k in each month, £75 k in savings/investments or holdings and have a property portfolio of £500k or more where the mortgage is with Santander for any amount. If you meet one of the above you meet criteria.
For customers who hold a Joint current account and are Select, and their partner on the account is not designated select, you can request that your partner get added onto Select. You will not be turned down as the Select teams are quite responsive to this and it’s usually done in about a week or so.
The gold cards are an optional addition, if your a select customer and have a 123 account you can ask to upgrade your card free of charge
The 123 Credit card now offers noforex fees anywhere in the world as long as its on purchases and in the currency of the country that you are traveling in. The person advising they can't get cash on it isn't accurate but you would incur cash advance fees on a credit card doing that so be prepared to pay 29.9% for the privilege.
The select number isn't completely free. It’s an 0330 number. Mobile friendly is the term I've been told. It allows you to ring from a mobile and it would go against inclusive minutes and I can use my landline and again if I have any time or evening and weekend minutes and I call in this period its uses the allowances, otherwise its the same cost of a local land line.
The select managers seem to be able to offer a wide range of services from day to day transactions to opening and closing accounts to dealing with complaints and complex issues. They get it sorted as fast as they can with the right outcome for the customer and I would assume for them as well but mutual agreement isn't a bad business model.
Preferential rates are available but at present I think Select is a great 'Free' service and a great innovation in this day and age. Feels more like speaking to a bank manager then someone who sounds like they can't be bothered to answer the phone and only they’re to work for the weekend. So Credit where credit is due. I suspect some of you need to speak to these guys to iron out some of your concerns... I feel you may be pleasantly surprised.0 -
With Select you need to meet one or more of the three criteria.

Did you really have to post that in two separate threads?
