I am 70 in May and Himself is 71 next month, but in my head I am only about 30. Yes, my hip hurts today because the cold has got to it, but like Lyn says everything is the same, just everything takes a bit longer, and somehow I seem to make a funny noise when I get out of a chair:eek:
70 isn't old now;)

The way my health is going I doubt if I will reach 70

Still got the hacking cough and it is really getting me down now.
Went to physio yesterday and I have been given exercises to do in order to regain muscle in my knees plus some that can be done in the swimming pool. I just have to keep at it so that I can have the knee replacements done at last. Spine surgery is first though because it is more dangerous for me to walk around with collapsed discs in my neck.
Cold here today, but have kept the heating off, I have just lit the fire to take the chill off downstairs though.
Dinner tonight is a nice warming chicken stew.
BFN xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

My DH had a total hip replacement at 66 and has since totally refurbished our bathroom and en suite. Last year he also refurbished our kitchen by knocking down a wall and fitting it out with new units and wooden floor.
We also go on lots of holidays and drive down to the south of France every year:)
It is cold here today, but our heating is on from 6 am until bed-time, so we are nice and toasty.0 -
Well as long as my brain still functions i'll be happy to stay around a bit longer. I forget, the majority of the peeps in the home with Mom are well into their 80s. Not many of them have escaped dementia.
I'm not alone, hubby says he wants to peg it at 60. Looks like 9 years to go before I'm a widow.
My Dad was just a few years older than I am now when he died. It was much too soon. For him and for his family.
No time scale for Mom though. She can go when she's ready and until then.... I'll be here for her. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Afternoon all,
Judi - I'm hoping your Avatar is you 'cos I can see a resemblance to your mum
Well all you mob that want to pop off - I want to live forever (as long as I function reasonably normally).
I've continued in the decluttering mindset and now have a large bag of stuff for the Charity shop and some VERY tidy drawers and wardrobes.
Sausages for tea tonight. DS2 is off to my dad's to watch Chelsea play on Skysports or whatever it is and I'm hoping DH will go too. Could do with a bit of peace and the TV remote

Still recovering from my hip replacement (6 weeks), hoping that I will be back to reasonable mobility by my 70th birthday in June.....you give me encouragement Iris, I think that I had expected to be running marathons by now, lack of pain is enough.
Very cold today, meant to go across the road to visit our nearest neighbour, decided not to as find crutches difficult to manage when wearing a coat, so phoned them instead...they are fine, we keep an eye on each other, which is very reassuring on all sides.
Dont seem to need to eat as much the last few days will do me no harm as I need to lose lots of weight to ensure that my other hips lasts a little longer.
Gentle hugs to all, stay warm and safe

Fwiw, Mr LW turned 65 in December; I shall be 55 in April, and he's in a darned sight better condition physically than I am.:D
I'm constantly looking to get gadgetry that will make my life easier (anything from large items like the mobility buggy, bath lift etc) to little things like a plastic jug for filling the kettle, and the wonderful jar opener than actually belonged to Mr LW's grandma!
Thus far I'm still managing the T3l3graph crossword and Sudoku puzzles every day, so hopefully I can keep the ol' brain firing on most cylinders for a bit longer. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
